Business Plan Writing Contest
September-November 2009
$10,000 IN PRIZE MONEY
- Open to all whose businesses are eligible for financing under the Black Business Loan Program (Florida Statutes 288.7102-3).
 Contestant can be sponsored by University faculty member, Black Chamber of Com-merce, University Student Union, Fraternity or Sorority or a Florida State Legislator.
 Kickoff event will be September 9, 2009, in Jacksonville with a small business work-shop
 Business plan must cover all aspects of the business, including description of busi-ness, marketing, competition, operating procedures, personnel, business insurance, financial data and supporting documents. Further information can be downloaded at:

 Business plan must be practical and usable.

 All entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2009.
 A minimum of ten (10) applications must be received, or prize money may be limited.
 Three finalists must present their plans in front of an independent judging panel un-der a fifteen (15) minute time limit in November 2009 in Orlando. This presentation will determine first, second and third place awards.
 Prize money will be awarded in November 2009: $2,500 first, $1,500 second and $1,000 third. An equal award will be made to the sponsor, if one exists. Winners will be responsible for all taxes.
 All contestants will be reviewed for funding under the Black Business Loan Program.
 Complete and final rules will be disseminated at the kickoff workshop on September 9, 2009.
