well having a urban gossip site probably is why its so hard for me to get hits since my site just got started. however im not really getting comments, i dont get very many views, and my ads dont get a lot of clicks. i know that i want to change my layout and the voice of the site, but what else??? im hoping that one of you ladies could take a look at my site and tell me whats wrong with it and why i might be having such a hard time driving traffic to my site.

Your site looks fine to me. Personally, I'm a traditional type lady so your upscale, urban, chick looking and feeling site and content does not appeal to me; but I know a few people who might find it interesting.

If you're doing anything wrong; I would say you are getting anxious and not playing the numbers game.
1. Share your site with everyone you know and I do mean EVERY ONE - everyday.
2. Ask them to help you by forwarding the site to others.
3. Post comments about your site on facebook and twitter daily and daily add friends to your pages who will see your messages. (The second time I was in business for myself I had a commercial made because a Barden (Now Comcast) sales rep convinced me that I needed to expose people to my business at least 16 times before they'll really remember it and act on my invitations to buy/ support whatever. I think that may still hold true today.

My advice - go easy on yourself. Have fun with what you do (it does come across). Market, market, market some more. Probably most important - BE CONSISTENT. No matter what - if you are consistent your ideal customers will find you and one day like magic you will blow up. But you have to be committed to doing it no matter what. Do not start and stop.

I have a friend who started a Blog in 2002, 3 or 4 (don't remember the exact year). She has been blogging at least 3 times a week since then and to look at her blog you might think that she is wasting her time because she only has a dozen or fewer "followers"; But she has a fan base that is quite impressive. You can check her out at: www.tochi.us. On facebook she is Tochi

Hope this helps.
it does help a lot. i think that im just moving too fast and wanting for my site to be the biggest and the best right now when i need to give it some time to simmer.
I not see anything that you are doing wrong I took a look at it and I happen to like it so don't worry about it as it becomes it will get more hits.
I read your blog and I see nothing wrong it reminds me of most of the others. I notice that you have 31 Facebook friends but no comments from them. Start there with your immediate audience. I am experiencing that same issue at myhaloonline.com and I have a public service site. We have to be patient but plug, plug, plug and mingle, mingle, mingle.
I am so ashamed of my typos, but I fixed them
you all are so helpful :) i going to start talking to the people on facebook a little bit more and see if i can get some comments and im thinking about starting something on myspace also
Hello

I took a look at your blog today...
One Suggestion

What is your blog objective?

Example

Do you wish for people to comment?

Do You wish for people to subscribe?

Would you like for them to join your newsletter?

or buy something?

It helps when you tell them what you want them to do

Most are on the computer all day they

all of us only have maybe a quick 30seconds (probably shorter than that)

to

grab their attention

I know but it's true....

So if I was you each time I create a post... In the post I would indicate my expected outcome...

It works ...

And you may want to begin collecting a database for your contacts

so you can always keep in contact with them with or without your blog...

Like using an autoresponder Aweber something like that.....

Okay if you need anything else let me know

Take Care
Wishing You Life's best
Great point! -lh
NayBesa, I think your site is awesome. Everyone has given you some great advice. You just have to be diligent in getting your links out to people so you capture your target audience. Also, keep in mind, with all the blogs and networking out there a lot of people aren't going to become followers, or log into your site without being prompted. I personally do not follow blogs because it just feels like one more thing for me to do when on-line. Now if you posted on FB or Twitter, "hey check-out this blog on why Shaunie Oneal left Shaq, I would click on it and read the story.

Don't get caught-up in "followers" or changing your site. Just let people know what you are blogging about, and like someone said, make sure they know it's out there, over and over and over again.
thats makes a lot of since i do post on twitter and facebook but i think im going to start putting captions and not just the titles when i post. Plus i want to do more topics like "shes cute for a dark skinned girl"
Yes now thats is a great idea
"shes cute for a dark skinned girl"
that will grab peoples attention....

Awsome
I took a look at your blog and it looks good. I have a traditional business website; although I must say I am an avid reader of blogs especially beauty and fashion. I have noticed some consistent things on site with high traffic count.

1. Fresh, new content, daily/hourly posts -- remember one story can put a site on the map i.e. huffingtonpost.com
2. look for networking/organizational sites to join - they allow you to promote your site
3. Facebook groups - join and post comments, stories, etc. (include link to your site)
4. Invite people to all site and groups you are a member of -- the more members -- the more people see you/site
5. Finally - promote other people sites -- I receive over 40% of my hits from referring links

Good Luck and much success
