About Me:: Carole McDonnell holds a BA degree in Literature from SUNY Purchase and has spent most of her years surrounded by things literary. Her writings appears in various anthologies including “So Long Been Dreaming: Post-colonialism in science fiction,” edited by Nalo Hopkinson and published by Arsenal Pulp Press; Fantastic Visions III" anthology published by Fantasist Enterprises; “Jigsaw Nation” published by Spyre publications, "Life Spices from Seasoned Sistahs: writings by mature women of color,” “Then an angel came along,” published by Pleasant Word Books Her reviews appear in print and at various online sites. She lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband, two sons, and their pets. She has published one novel, Wind Follower published by Juno Books. Her novel, The Constant Tower, will be published by Marcher Lord Press by late 2008. She is currently working on her third, a Christian horror novel called Dark Inheritance.

She is also a freelance writer who is always willing to help a sistah by writing and editing their bios, promotions, or other business writing.

A fourth tribe has come to the land of the three tribes; the light-skinned newcomers are fated to change the tribes' way of life and religion. Satha, a dark-skinned woman from a poor Theseni clan, and Loic, her wealthy young Doreni husband, are too busy forging their new life together to pay much heed. But when Satha is dishonored and Loic must avenge her, they find themselves drawn into a cultural battle. Kidnapped and enslaved, Satha strives to retain her autonomy. Loic struggles against the Arkhai, spirits who fear his his quest will lead him to the true god whose place they have usurped. With the Creator's aid there remains hope they will be reunited and find their mutual destiny, even if it means losing the love and respect of their comrades, families, clans, and tribes.

KQED Writer's Block

San Francisco NPR affiliate KQED has an arts website, where it keeps an online weekly podcast called "Writer's Block" in which they feature a short (10-15 min), self-contained reading by a writer. They are really looking for writers of color that fit their guidelines (target audience 25-40 y/o so younger, edgier stuff) but are cash strapped and don't have enough staff to do adequate outreach.
