Now, I hope that you all can see that. But the thing about the business credit score, what it is and how is it affecting your business? Now, I've broken it down into three categories because these are your most important categories. You have your PAYDEX score, you have your business credit rating, and then you have your bank rating. And talking about the PAYDEX score, a lot of people are concerned about their PAYDEX score, which is 80 or above. However, the PAYDEX score is only good for trade vendors and net vendors. So, if you really don't need those type of companies, you're just trying to get funding for another project, or whatever, this really wouldn't be an impact on you because you're not trying to get trade credit or Net 30. Net 30, Net 7, Net 15, they have different wants, such as Net Vendor credit and stuff, and Trade credit. That's basically like your Seton, ULine, Grainger. And what ends up happening most of the time, we buy from these companies just to get them to report on our business credit, to get a PAYDEX score. However, the thing about it, the majority of the stuff we buy, we usually don't need it for our business.<br /><br /> And so, we got stuck in this... This is mainly part of the tier system method where they teach you, set the company up, buy some Net 30s then buy another round of Net 30s, then apply for some gas cards, then attempt to apply for some unsecured cards. Usually, the tier system... I can truly attest to this, it usually will take you anywhere from nine months to a year or longer. Depends on how active you are in your business. Okay, so that's what the PAYDEX score. The PAYDEX rating is 80 or above, meaning that you're good a payer. You pay good on time, okay, and it's just mainly for vendor credit.<br /><br /> Now, your business credit rating. Your business credit rating, this is important. This is an important factor because this determines if you get business loans or business credit cards. So that's what the business credit rating is. That's the reason that you'd see me on the video always telling you to update your financials. Make sure you do the UCCs, things like that. That's what affects your business credit rating. And then I told you about the different banks to go to in my ebook that tell you where to go and get those secured bank cards and stuff, because that will help with their business credit rating.<br /><br /> Now, this is one that most people aren't aware of and not too many people speak of it, maybe because they don't. But the bank rating... Now the bank rating actually deals with... Well, your business bank rating. It actually deals with the activity of the business checking account in which you should have... When you're setting up a corporation, usually what I teach on, with the corporation, with C corporations, you wanna to have three accounts. You wanna have a business checking account, a business savings, and a business expense account. And in my ebook, I explain to you why you want to have those accounts set up like that. But the business banking ratings this year, is where it goes off the activity. How many deposits have been in the account? How often are you depositing money into the account? How long does the deposit stay in there? And the larger the amount of money you deposit in the bank, and the longer it stays, the higher your rating. So, the larger the amount, the longer it stays, the higher your rating.<br /><br /> So, this is your bank rating. This is what really determines the amount of money they're gonna loan you. This here determines whether you're gonna get approved for unsecured credit cards and/or loans with a business credit rating. But this here, determines the amount of money. So those are the two differences there. So, you have your PAYDEX score, which is talking about your trade credit or your vendors. Your trade vendors, which describe you as Net 30s, you're Net 7s, you're net 15. Then you have the business credit rating, and this is what determines you being approved for loans or credit cards, unsecured or secured, okay. But your bank rating, that's dealing with the activity on those business bank accounts, okay. So, the more money you have in it, the longer it stays in it, determines the amount of money they're gonna loan you, future-wise. So, this is just a basic video I wanted to break down to you guys, so you can understand. If you are looking at companies, and they are not explaining this process to you, to actually help decide whether you should let them help you or you should do it on your own, then you don't need them because they should be at least explaining some of these basics to you. If they're not explaining these basics to you, they're wasting your time guys. And I know from many of you all, may have seen my student loan video removal of Sallie Mae Student Loans. And the thing about it, you actually can't have those type of student loans because they're, not under the government guidelines. If you have government student loans, you can go to directloan.com. If you go to directloan.com, right there, all of your government student loans, they can consolidate them all into one, and they will lower your payments.<br /><br />In reference to your private student loans, because they're all under FDCPA, you have the right if you have to, if you need to file bankruptcy, those types of student loans, you can, especially like Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae is a privately held company, and I tell a lot of people that call me, and I talk to them about their student loan. By them being a privately held company, they're not under the government guidelines. And so you do have a right to file bankruptcy under that because like with Wells Fargo, with Chase Bank, Sallie Mae, they all fall under...<br /><br />What type... What it is is that Sallie Mae... Sallie Mae, what they were doing, they would go to the government, and they would buy student loans from the government. And then, "Okay, we're going to service these." So the government like, "Well, okay. If you service these then, you have to pay us a monthly insurance payment on these loans." See, when you took a student loan, they automatically used... But most of the time they automatically loaned you until the insurance program. And so that insurance program was for in case you default, then the insurance company pays off that loan for you. And so, like a lot of people, they don't know that.<br /><br /> And if you ask for your original contract with whoever, whatever school you went to, when you signed up for Sallie Mae, if they can't produce that contract, then they should not be reported on your credit report anyway. Also, another thing that Sallie Mae does is that say, that you defaulted way back when on your loan. What they'll do to keep on the collection practices, they'll re-age your account. And so they never report the original default date. So that puts you, like you're just starting over when you actually, because of the seven year time lapse on a loan or a regular loan except for a government loan, then it should have been folding up your credit anyway. You find a niche you truly enjoy and you start working what you’ve learned into some traffic for your affiliate links.</p><p>Over a period of 30 days, you funnel 5,000 prospects from the World Wide Web who are interested in your niche straight through your affiliate link to the product owner’s site.</p><p>Let’s look at it a little deeper they even buy – yea! You’ve made a 50% commission with a 2% conversion rate. That means 2 out of every 100 people you sent bought the product, and your share was $26.00 (as an example). You earned a cool $2,600 this month – good for you!</p><p>There’s only one thing, you’re leaving money on the table. Those 100 people who bought from your 5,000 clicks? They’re now on the product owner’s list, not yours. So what he’s going to do is send them more offers over the coming weeks.</p><p>After all, they are proven buyers. Over the next 30 days, those buyers give even more money for products that complement the original one they bought. That money goes to the product owner, not you – because you passed on building a list the first time around.</p><p>A better way to build YOUR business is to start with a list from day one. It is important that each article have its very own autoresponder address, so you will need an autoresponder service that will allow you to do this. Next, make a master list of your articles, with the autoresponder address for each article listed beside the title. I thought it was very ironic to hear a recent radio advertisement announcing that certain individuals should take part in a great program being given by creditors; it’s called “The Credit Amnesty Program”. This advertisement was encouraging people who have credit scores as low as 480, to come and apply for INSTANT CREDIT no one is turned down. Lie!!!!!, this is the biggest gimmick and it’s been around for years it just has a new name, but the financial shackles are the same for individual with bad credit. Why because the people who buy into these tactics are given interest rates as high as 18% or higher, the debt these individuals accumulate is designed for them not to pay if off which in turn many of these people will default on their debt. I recently did a webinar regarding “What impacts Your Credit” during this webinar I showed the cost comparison of a credit worthy consumer and an unworthy credit consumer. Take a look:</p><p><strong>Examples of Credit Profiles</strong></p><p>Here is an example of the cost of a $20,000 car loan over 5 years:</p><p>Prime 680 or higher score - Interest rate 7%, Payment $405, Total Cost after 5 years $24,300</p><p>Sub prime 500 - 619 Interest rate 14%, Payment $477, Total Cost after 5 years $28,620</p><p>Jilted 500 or below – Interest rate 21%, Payment $557, Total Cost after 5 years $33,420</p><p>As you can see in this example there no advantages of being an unworthy credit consumer, you may be able to buy material purchases but the consumer with bad credit pays a big price at the end. It's important to understand this and learn as much as you can about building and maintaining a good credit score for your business.<br /><br />Having a business credit score of 75 or higher through Dun & Bradstreet is essential and can help you especially when trying to get lines of credit with vendors. While cash loans, such as an SBA loan, micro loan or personal signature loan will require a review of your personal credit - your business credit score will help also in making a final decision.<br /><br />Much has changed in the business credit industry today. It used to be that you didn't need to always use your personal credit history when applying for small business loans or lines of credit, but that's not the case anymore. You'll need a personal credit score of at least 680 and again, a D&B score of at least 75. If your personal score is less than 680, it's time to start working on it right away.<br /><br />Building your business credit is not something that can be done over night, but it is a gradual process that occurs over a period of time. As your business grows your business credit worthiness should get stronger and stronger.<br /><br />A good business credit score will assist in getting business loans, lines of credit and minority or woman-owned certified. Your business credit worthiness is an essential part of growing your business and it also shows your leadership ability as the owner or CEO.<br /><br /><strong>Below are 10 ways you can get started in building your business credit:</strong><br /><br /> 1. <strong>Consider changing the structure of your business to a corporation</strong>, such as a Limited Liability Corporation better known as the LLC. This is the most common structure that many small and micro businesses are using. If you are not certain of the structure for your business make sure you discuss it with your accountant or attorney.<br /><br /> 2. <strong>Apply for a business checking account</strong>. This is an essential part of the process in legitimizing your business. It will be important for you to keep all of your expenses separate. This is very important to do if you're incorporated especially. It is also a plus to keep a minimum balance of $2500 in your account at all times. This helps in establishing your credit worthiness.<br /><br /> 3. <strong>Develop your business plan</strong>. Many times when applying for a loan or line of credit you'll be asked for your business plan. This normally causes a lot of small business owners to procrastinate, because it can cause one to feel overwhelmed just thinking about writing one. But, it is necessary and remember to get help doing it. You don't have to write it alone and neither do you have to create a long 100 page document.<br /><br /> 4. <strong>Gather your business financials</strong>. Most of the time a lender or loan specialist will also ask you for financials. This will include the Business Checking Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Projection and Tax Statements. Depending on the number of years you have been in business be prepared to provide up to 3 years of statements.<br /><br /> 5. <strong>Apply for your DUNs (a.k.a. D&B) Number</strong>. The DUNS number is a 9-digit number that is used worldwide in tracking more than 100 million businesses. It helps to build your company's credibility and helps vendors, lending agencies and others to verify that you are running a legitimate business.<br /><br /> 6. <strong>Apply for a business phone line that can provide you with a 411 directory listing</strong>. This is normally with your local phone company. Validating a business phone number is normally the first thing that vendors do to verify that you are indeed a real business.<br /><br /> 7. <strong>If you're a home-based business, consider also using a virtual office service</strong> that has a commercial address (not a PO Box or UPS Store). This means that you should be able to receive packages there and anyone should be able to visit the office and ask for you or your company by name. There are many such services popping up all of the US, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one.<br /><br /> 8. <strong>Make sure that any services you use are in the name of your corporation</strong>. This should include: cell phone, office lease, any machine leases, business services etc.<br /><br /> 9. <strong>Start applying for business credit with vendors</strong> (Staples, Office Depot etc.) that report to business credit agencies, such as Dun & Bradstreet and Experian. Make a list of items that you need in your business that can be purchased through a line of credit or lease, instead of using cash. Don't just trust a vendor's word that they report to business credit agencies; ask if they have it in writing in their literature or credit applications.<br /><br /> 10. <strong>Only use 35-50% of your business credit cards spending limit</strong>. Business creditors get very nervous when you use anything larger from your spending limit and especially when you don't pay it off within 30 days. This shows that you might be having a cash flow problem and they run from that.<br /><br />Once you have received your D&B number, consider using the D&B File Creator Service. This allows you to quickly place business accounts on your file and helps to establish your credit worthiness quicker. In addition, it will be important to check your business credit profile at least quarterly to ensure that everything is being reported properly and that your score is getting higher.</p><p><br />As you build your business credit, it is also important to understand the importance of paying your accounts payables at least 7-15 days ahead of time. This goes over well with business creditors and is reported on your Dun & Bradstreet credit report, which helps your score to go higher.<br /><br />The information points provided above are suggestions based on the success that others have had in building their business credit. It is not a conclusive list and there are many other things to consider when working on building your company's financial reputation. This is someone who was under the misconception that networking is about gathering business cards. She didn’t realize that networking is really about building and maintaining relationships with other business people. As we got her more involved with LinkedIn, she started reconnecting with people she had lost contact with over time–and she was really enjoying the rediscovery. She started to understand the real value that relationships play in business.<br /><br />That got me thinking about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to networking and building relationships.<br /><br />Therestill seem to be some misunderstandings about networking. Based on some of the behavior I’ve seen, it appears that many people are still missing the whole idea of relationship building. It doesn’t matter <br />whether it is social networking or in-person networking. In the business practice of building relationships, there are three deadly sins to avoid:<br /><br />1. Pitching early<br />2. Signing someone up without permission<br />3. Assuming closeness<br /><br />1. Pitching early:<br /><br />Thisis when you meet someone at a networking event, exchange cards, and decide that the card exchange gives you permission to give them a sales pitch. This happens all the time. It’s one of the reasons that some people avoid networking events. They either think they are supposed to behave this way and aren’t comfortable in that role, or they dislike the people who do it and don’t want to be around them.<br /><br />People whopitch early don’t understand the relationship building aspect of networking. They believe that simply participating in the activity is a license to sell. Well, it isn’t. Networking is the opportunity to begin <br />the relationship building process. Networking gives you the chance to meet people whom you might not otherwise meet.<br /><br />I submit that thesame is true for “social networking.” Linking in or friending someone online does not mean you have an open invitation to sell to them. Here’s an example of a double whammy – I met a young man at a chamber event. Within a couple of days he sent me a LinkedIn request to connect. I accepted. Now I receive solicitations from him via LinkedIn.<br /><br />Theproblem? I don’t know him, so I can’t trust him. He doesn’t know what my situation is or what my needs are. He isn’t matching a solution to a problem. He is solely focused on what he wants. If, on the other hand, he had continued the process of relationship building, he would have learned more about me and my situation. He would have waited to sell until he knew there was a need and until he had established trust. As it stands, I’m not even interested in seeing him at the next chamber function. He accomplished the exact opposite of what he wanted–all because he pitched too early.<br /><br />2. Signing someone up withoutpermission: As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the deadliest networking sins. It is presumptuous and rude. I believe that when you do this you are telegraphing that you are more interested in building your list than in building relationships. How do you know the person needs <br />what you have to offer? How do you know they want to read what you have to say? Where did you get permission to enter their e-mail inbox on a consistent basis? Remember, the simple exchange of business cards is not a license to behave in any way you choose.<br /><br />The solution is sovery simple. When you meet someone and engage in a conversation, you will learn things about them. If you discover that they have an interest in or need for the information you provide, ask them if they’d like to be added to your e-mail list and tell them why you think it would be a good idea for them. If they say “yes,” jot a note to yourself on their card. If they say “no,” don’t do it!<br /><br />Did you notice the steps? They go in order. To take them out of order is to ask for trouble.<br /><br />3.Assuming closeness: The story I told above about the young man I met at the chamber event also falls under this category. He assumed that we were closer than we were. He assumed that we had a relationship because of our chamber and online connections.<br /><br />Think about therelationships you have with your friends, significant other, co-workers. Did they happen instantly? At “hello”? They didn’t, did they? They had to be built and nurtured; they had to grow over time.<br /><br />This is notto say they you didn’t feel some sort of connection with some of these people. That sense of connection is what propels you to want to get to know them better. However, until you know someone better, you really don’t know enough to explore the possibility of conducting business with<br />each other.<br /><br />Nothing sends people running from you quicker thanassuming closeness that doesn’t exist. Not only does it send people running, but they will tell others what you did. If you want to destroy your reputation quickly, then by all means, assume closeness. If, on the other hand, you want to grow your business, don’t make assumptions. Rather, grow those relationships first.<br /><br />Ask yourself: Are you inbusiness for the long haul or for a quick hit? If you answered “for the long haul,” then relationship building is a necessity. Do yourself and your business a favor and take the time to build relationships with the people you meet. Most of these people will become great referral partners for you – not customers. The more referral partners you have, the easier it will be to grow your business. It’s important for you to build relationshpswith your customers. Your contacts are called subscribers on your listsand they are the most important asset of your business. List buildingincorporates building relationships. Your prospects are encouraged tovisit your website through your marketing efforts. Hopefully they signup to receive your free offer which should be of value to them and youare given an opportunity to build rapport with them and share thesolutions you have with them.</p><p>You notice I said you have the opportunity to share your solutions with them. Unless you have the opportunity to build rapport andincrease the know, like and trust factor you will only share yoursolutions and never have the opportunity of actually add them to yourclient/customer community.</p><p><br /></p><p>One way to build your list is to use Social Media.</p><p><br /></p><p>Social media includes Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Myspace and it actually includes blogging. There are many other Social sites, however,my focus at this time is on Twitter and Facebook.</p><p><br /></p><p>If you don’t have an account on Twitter you can go to <a href="http://www.twitter.com">www.twitter.com</a> and you’ll see a prompt to register and you’ll need tofollow each one. The one thing you need to keep in mind is that thefirst impression is important having said that you need to have aphoto. If you have a business you might opt for a business logo,however, I would suggest that you have at least one account with yourpersonal name and then add another one. The other important thing is tohave a link to your blog or website. I suggest your blog or if you havea free offer (recommended) have a link on your page to direct them toyour free offer. This will also enhance your list building endeavors.You can only use one email per account.</p><p><br /></p><p>If you don’t have an account on Facebook go to <a href="http://www.facebook.com">http://www.facebook.com</a> you’ll see a link to register. Follow theprompts. Same thing with regard to your photo. Don’t post every linkunder the sun on your profile. Be intentional and don’t confuse yourfriends.</p><p><br /></p><p>You need to know the proper etiquette for each site. Twitter is a fast mover. You can actually tweet all day, however, there is a rulewith regard to the ratio. You want to do more original tweets, followedby retweets and then maybe 20% tweets to your own offers, links etc.</p><p><br /></p><p>Facebook is a little slower. You don’t want to post updates all day and resist posting links to your business for the majority of yourupdates on your profile wall. Your profile is for personal and there isa facebook fanpage that can be used for business.</p><p><br /></p><p>Now back to the idea of list building. You need to know what your target market is and your goals for Facebook and/or Twitter.
