Empowered to Say No

Empowered to Say No

When asked to take on a task and you know that you don’t have time to fit it in your day do you

1) Say I’m sorry I’m unable to do that at this time

2) Say I’m sorry I’m unable to do that at this time while feeling guilty or

3)You agree to do it knowing full well that it will be next to impossible to fulfill it?
One of the biggest hindrances to one’s endeavor to lead a balanced and healthy life is the inability to say no.

Many things contribute to one’s inability to simply say no without the guilt. It can b a problem with needing approval, not wanting to be rejected which is complicated by low self esteem.

Generally speaking, people can’t say no to someone asking them for something because they are so worried about upsetting the person or lack the courage to turn down the request. People often dislike disagreeing, or believe saying yes is easier than saying no. Others can simply not say no. However, there are often instances where it is best to say no to a request and it is important to learn how to utter that small little word, “no.”

You can become empowered to say no.

Discover simple strategies to say no, politely but firmly.
It’s you schedule and your life. You don’t have to come with excuses or stories. If you don’t value your time no one else will. You can say no without being dishonest.
Here are a few ways you can say no.
• No. I would only be able to do a mediocre job right now.
• No. I don’t have any spare time right now.
• Not this time, please give me more notice next time and I’ll work it into my schedule.
• I can’t accept this, with my present commitments. I’m sorry.
• I’m rather quite busy now. I must decline.
• I don’t think I have the time for it, as I am in the middle of something important.
• After looking at my calendar, I found that I already have prior commitments.
• I can’t.
• Why don’t you try someone else? I’m not the right person for this.

Take some time to come up with some additional ways that you can say no that feel authentic to you and our personality. If you aren’t sure, you can always ask for time to make the decision without feeling guilty. You may say you will have to think about it. If somebody persists with the request when you want to say no, you may have to be assertive and firmly decline. You don’t need to risk over committing by saying yes when you actually want to say no.

When you neglect being honest when approached by your boss for instance and you know that you couldn’t possibly fulfill the request in excellence you are putting your job on the line.

If you can show your boss, the reasons for not being able to accept the extra responsibility, you may be able to convince your superior about your inability to accept the additional work. Don’t accept anything that puts your job at risk or makes you suffer later.

Believe it or not learning to say no at the right time can help you gain respect with your peers and help avoid dire situations.

When saying no do so with confidence and if you lack confidence well this is an area that you want to work on. An inability to say no will be a definite hindrance to your personal empowerment.

Boost your confidence and self esteem. Celebrating the uniqueness of you will go a long way in enhancing your ability to say no without feeling guilty.

Besides when you don’t truly desire or have room to fulfill the request you’re not being authentic and you know I’m all for being authentic.

Here’s to your no-ability!

Introducing our PWP feature of this week: Tina Hines. Tina is an inspiring life coach and president of For My Sister Friends™. For My Sister Friends™ inspires women to seek an understanding of the deeper meaning of their life as they journey towards inner peace, wholeness and balance. Tina has gone from blog writer, book club facilitator, to lifestyle coach in the last few years and has inspired many women with her one-on-one and group sessions. Tina’s passion for the well-being of women exudes in all that she does. One of Tina’s favorite quotes is “When you feel good on the inside it exudes on the outside (no make-up required)”.  I hope you are as inspired by her story as I was. Enjoy!

1. Tell me your story. What were you doing before you started your own business?

Actually, I am a busy woman because in addition to being a lifestyle coach, I manage the executive office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s largest philanthropy devoted solely to the public health. My professional career began at the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies where I spent 18 years in various high level administrative roles.  After departing J&J, I was the executive/personal assistant to the chairman and publisher of Black Enterprise Magazine. These positions provided me with an opportunity to enhance my knowledge in various areas, interact with individuals from across the world and provided me with the stepping stone to take a leap of faith and make an investment in my passion.

2.  What made you want to start a business and what is your mission?

Although I no longer worked for Johnson & Johnson, I often would reconnect with prior supervisors. It was during a lunch when my first boss from 1986 told me that he could see me running a business that groomed administrative assistants. I tossed around the idea and although I loved my role as an administrative professional, somehow I knew my calling was a little different, something bigger.

In 2008, I launched a blog about my experiences with products, businesses, and activities I sampled and used the creative space to provide words of encouragement for women. A year later, I formed a book club where more times than not, the topic of discussion transitioned from the book of the month to the challenges women face as they wear many hats in their professional and personal lives.

Fast forward to 2011; the same group of women (with a few additions) came together for a meeting in my home to discuss finding their passion. As each person shared their desire to find or enhance their passion or make changes in their life, I shared with the group my desire to identify my purpose in life. It was a friend who declared that I should become a motivational speaker or coach of some sort because I was always inspiring them. When I allowed the ladies to take a peek at my journal that is exactly what I had written. It was at that moment that For My Sister FriendsTM emerged. This is my bigger calling.

My mission is to assist women (through one-on-one and group sessions) in reconnecting with their inner self and making a transformation. Women do so much for others and often reach a place there they have become drained and don’t have anything left for themselves. They are forgetting to take a little ‘me time’ and rejuvenate.

Between M.A.C., Mary Kay and Clinique, women are able to mask a lot on the outside, but inside is something different. There is no make-up to cover-up the emotions they are feeling on the inside. That is why I encourage women to work towards reconnecting with their happy self. One of my favorite quotes, “When you feel good on the inside it exudes on the outside (no make-up required).”  I created the quote after a colleague told me I was glowing and then declared it must be attributed to the man in my life. They were quickly corrected by using the quote and I consistently share it with women during my workshops.

3. What inspires you? What keeps you motivated daily to keep growing your business?

I am inspired when I see sister friends uplifting one another. We all are on a journey and though we may have traveled different roads, there is a chance we share some of the same bruises.

I have a childhood friend who often tells me that my heart is in the right place but I cannot fix everyone; and I know she is correct. However, when I entered this business it was never my mission to fix anyone. My mission was to provide them with a listening ear, a little food for thought and have them fix themselves. When I receive an email, text or phone call from a client and they share what they have implemented to make a transformation in their life; that is what motivates me to continue growing my business.

4. Do you have a mentor? Who is it and why? Do you believe it's important to have one?

I have several mentors from a variety of professions. Each of them provides me with food for thought that challenges me in a various ways. For instance, there was a very brief moment when I challenged myself about my passion of helping other women get to their happy, healthy place. The challenge was that there were so many coaches what did I have to offer? In addition, I didn’t want to coach women to do something for themselves; they needed to be inspired to make a transformation for themselves. My mentor sternly said, “Yes, there are a lot of coaches but there is only one Tina C. Hines inspiring women with her words of wisdom.”

Having a mentor is important and valuable resource. As your ideas may be scribbled notes on a pad, a mentor can assist you in putting them in perspective. They have the wisdom, knowledge, and experience to guide you towards the greatest that is within. Regardless of where I have been in my career, there has always been a mentor on speed dial.

5. What would you tell someone who wants to get involved in your line of business but doesn't know how to get started?

This is a tough question. For me, being a lifestyle coach was derived from my career of choice, past experiences and the people I surrounded myself with throughout my life. It was a passion that lay dormant; slowly this passion began to reveal itself in many facets of my life and is now my purpose.

However, I would encourage them to connect with other coaches to obtain a clear understanding of the roles of various coaches and then identify their niche. Participate in coaching sessions as a client to see first-hand the techniques that are used to achieve the results the client is seeking. Finally, read, read, read; and when you are done reading, read some more.  Knowledge is power and having book knowledge coupled with your University of Life knowledge is important.

6. What advice would you give to someone with an entrepreneurial spirit?

If someone has an entrepreneurial spirit, they should be encouraged to do everything in their power to feed that spirit. Feed it with the wisdom of those who have taken this journey; feed it with the knowledge of a good mentor; and feed it with dedication. Most importantly, they should remember this is their journey not their friends or family members. It is their time so take it, hold on tight and get ready for an interesting ride.

I want to thank Tina for stepping up to the challenge and taking time to "brag" about herself.  You can visit Tina’s website at www.formysisterfriends.org and contact her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ForMySisterFriends.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Does Fear grip you when you think of these three words?

ineedhelp220.jpg

I need help! Those are three of the most feared words for many that I know of. Why is this?
Do you feel that asking or admitting that you need help means that you’ve failed or maybe you feel inferior?

Let’s take a look at the consequences of not asking for or seeking help.

You continue repeating the same steps getting the same results.

You waste time and money trying out new bright shiny objects. The next best thing.

A great service or product is withheld from the world.

The solution to someone’s problem is hidden and causes them to either
continue on a long search or never realize the resolve for their problem.

You continue to toss and turn afraid that your mortgage won’t be paid or that you won’t be able to keep up with your bills.

A lack of confidence and low self esteem sets in as you beat up on yourself for not accomplishing what you thought you would have by now.

You finally give up.

Is it worth it?

Seeking out the necessary support and resources is an action of a woman who knows that she has gifts that the world needs to be exposed to, an unstoppable woman of tenacity that has made a resolve of no retreat.

It doesn’t make you weak or inferior.

The added support of a coach and/or mentor will save you years of trouble, reduce the mistakes that you end up making and will keep you from reinventing the wheel.

You will also realize increased revenue and save time.

If it hasn’t worked for you for the last 1 – 5 years or more, you can’t afford to continue on your own.
Stop now. Look at where you are? Are you satisfied?

Make an agreement with yourself that you will do whatever it takes to position yourself for empowering success. Don’t cheat yourself simply because you’re afraid of or too proud to say “I need help.”

Ready to take action. Secure your help today! Request my free Breakthrough to Destiny talk. There are a limited number of spaces open.

Simple Relaxing Tips For Moms

women-relaxing.jpg?width=300

It seems like there is never enough time to take a break for the weary. And, the weary person is usually mom. You find that most often moms are too busy taking care of home and everybody else, but who takes care of mom?If you are a busy mom, it is very important that learn to value yourself as a person and schedule personal time.

Personal time is a right of being a person. Each of us has the capacity to nurture others but that type of care takes its toll.

A car is filled with fuel to make it run. Eventually the fuel runs out and your car won’t move unless the car is replenished with fuel. The same goes for you. Emotional issues can develop when you don’t take the time to take care of your emotional well-being, not to mention the physical results of emotional neglect, so I hope you are starting to see why it is important that you start to take better care and make time for yourself.

Being able to take some Mom time refuels the tank so that you can give to your family as well as yourself in equal measure. When you give to yourself you are actually more vital and energetic and you actually have more to give back to the world. Don’t feel ashamed to sit for fifteen minutes doing nothing. In the springtime, relaxing on your patio or even next to the pool is the perfect getaway from the pressures of the day. Reading a book for 30 minutes can also seem like heaven to many moms.

Here are a few tips to help you fit in much needed “mom” time:

1. Get up 30 minutes early. When you have kids, the day begins at a hurried pace. Once you hit the ground running, there is no stopping you. Waking 30 minutes to an hour ahead of time means quiet solitude to drink your coffee, read a book, meditate or listen to music. Give it a try and I challenge you not to hit the alarm clock. Jump start your day!

2. Turn Ordinary into Extraordinary. When you take a bath, add candles, bubble bath, quiet music. Your regular bath has now become a spa level experience. If you watch a movie, turn out the lights, pop a bag of microwave popcorn and curl up on the couch do it and enjoy every minute of it.

Do you feel called to be the Queen over your Life and/or
Business?

10744071066?profile=original

Read on to discover empowering insights about the Queenly
Proverbs Woman.

How close have you looked at the Proverbs 31 Woman? What I’m going to share with you about this dynamic woman is  something
different from what so many teach on – the stereotyped housewife occupied with
dirty dishes and laundry, her daily life dictated by the demands of her husband
and her children. Nor do we find a hardened, overly ambitious career woman who
leaves her family to take care of themselves. And now lining it up with today’s
independent woman we don’t find her so independent that she doesn’t consider
the wisdom of God.

If you look closely you’ll find a strong,
dignified, multi-talented, caring woman who is an individual in her own right.
This woman has money to invest, servants to look after and real estate to
manage. She is her husband’s partner, her children’s’ nurturer and teacher, and
she is completely trusted with the responsibility for the family’s lands,
property and goods.

She has acquired the business skills to buy and
sell in the market, along with the heartfelt sensitivity and compassion to care
for and fulfill the needs of people who are less fortunate. She is not one to walk away from challenges of life but with pleasure and
vigor she tackles the challenges each day brings. Her husband and children love
and respect her for her kind, generous and caring nature. Women look to her as a leader to follow and respect. A woman of integrity and great character.

Her success is obvious. The key to her
successful path is even more obvious.

Regardless of her responsibilities which causes her to wear many hats, first
and foremost, she looks to God. Her primary concern is God’s will in her life.
She is a woman after God’s own heart.

Okay that’s all good Robin for the Wives and Mothers, however,
what about those of us who Mother other’s children but are not wives or
biological Mothers? Is this just a guide for Moms and Wives?

Being a mother or wive is not a prerequisite learning a lesson about
your business or life from this awesome woman of God. It’s not necessary that
you run your own company either.  There is something to be learned by every woman from this
Queenly Proverbs Woman.

Here are a few virtues that make up the
Queenly Proverbs woman and make her successful in life and business.

1. Faith – A  Queenly Proverbs woman is committed to
and serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She seeks His will for
her life and not only that she follows His ways. (Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 31:
29 – 31, Matthew 22: 37, John 14: 15, Psalm 119: 15

2. Marriage – A Queenly
Proverbs Woman respects her husband. She does him good all the days of her
life. She is trustworthy and a helpmeet. She is a helpmeet and has wisdom that
aids in being a helpmeet for her husband. She is not a busy body tending to
others homes and neglecting her own. (Proverbs 31: 11- 12, Proverbs 31: 23,
Proverbs 31: 28, 1 Peter 3, Ephesians 5, Genesis2: 18)

 Motherhood – A Queenly Woman
teaches her children the ways of her Father in heaven. She nurtures her
children with the love of Christ, disciplines them with care and wisdom, and
trains them in the way they should go. (Proverbs 31: 28, Proverbs 31: 26,
Proverbs 22: 6, Deuteronomy 6, Luke 18: 16)

4. Health – A Queenly
Proverbs Woman adheres to the scripture that states her body is the temple of
Holy Spirit and cares for her body. She prepares healthy food for her family
and herself. (Proverbs 31: 14 – 15, Proverbs 31: 17, 1 Corinthians 6: 19,
Genesis 1: 29, Daniel 1, Leviticus 11)

31: 16, Proverbs 31: 24, Proverbs 31: 31, Philippians 2: 14)

These are just a few of the virtues of a Queenly Proverbs Woman. I
will be sharing more in my presentation during The Queen’s Court Success System
2.0 scheduled to launch this Thursday and beginning in January 2012. For now you
don’t to miss my next call.

"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me." Erma Bombeck

In the recent death of Steve Jobs, I watched a video of his 2005 commencement speech to Stanford University graduates. Ironically, I watched it using his brilliant creation, the I-phone. As I allowed his words to resonate in my mind, “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today,” I related those words to my life and to the many women who are business owners, mothers, mentors, volunteers and more. Are you living a life of purpose?

How will you know if you have succeeded in living a life of purpose? How do you keep score? Here are 4 ways to tune in to your purpose: http://bit.ly/oC8VLC

Feeling Discouraged

Making jewelry is my passion. Yesterday I had a jewelry party at my home and NOBODY showed up who promised they'd be there, well this is the 2nd time it has happened. I think my jewelry looks just as good as the jewelry in stores. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but at this point I honesty feel like giving up and moving on to a different craft! I have so much jewelry I could open a store.

Why you should Break Free from Comfort

10744067476?profile=original

Comfort means you’re safe, you’re in a domain that is not opposing or challenging, you’re familiar with that around you and there is no intent on changing from your large, strong and coo-shy safety net, but what happens when you want to break free from that net, jump back into the ocean or spread your wings? DISCOMFORT! Facing new challenges is exactly that as it means taking a risk, a chance, grasping at an opportunity. There's nothing comfortable about striving to achieve a goal but there is joy in the making of dreams.

A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown. - Denis Waitley

As black women we are all to ready to clutch to our comfort zones, we take a step, two or three, achieve a university degree, a white career and then phew we made it, and it feels good being right here, so let’s stay right here, in the comfort zone. If that’s were your dream ended then congratulations be proud of yourself but that doesn’t mean you have to stop dreaming.

We shall have no better conditions in the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present. - Thomas Edison

Discomfort is falsely associated with failure and we misinterpret the feeling of discomfort and evade it where we should welcome it. Ever heard the expression ‘no pain, no gain’? We understand this very well for beauty and fitness but fail to recognise the same for our professional and personal progression, although it’s entirely the same game.

Progress always involves risk; you can't progress to second base and also keep your foot on first. - Christie Mason

Success is always preceded by a temporary condition of discomfort and discomfort is a temporary condition of expanding your comfort zone, but the longer you dwells in a comfortable the greater the number of situations that make you feel uncomfortable will grow.

Nobody ever died of discomfort, yet living in the name of comfort has killed more ideas, more opportunities, more actions, and more growth than everything else combined. Comfort kills! - T. Harv Eker

Comfort is the most potent inhibitor of success. We must remember that as black people it took many stepping far outside of their comfort zone for us to finally arrive where we are today. In two of my earlier articles I address the history of Queen Amina the African warrior queen who achieved one of the greatest military success in African history and Harriet Tubman who refused to remain a slave and went on to free hundreds more. These great black women are fine examples that demonstrate; the higher the measures of discomfort the greater the achievement.

Be brave enough to live life creatively.  The creative is the place where no one else has ever been.  You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. - Alan Alda

In order to rise we must prepare to be discomforted, expect discomfort and welcome it with a “Hello old friend, let’s push the boundaries together again”. Make discomfort a familiar friend and not a stranger in so far as your competence allows and where is doesn’t find the tools to make it do so.

What is the one thing most coaches concentrate on?

Coaching certification. Or you may focus on the business of what?
Coaching.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that you shouldn’t learn the necessary skills involved in coaching nor am I saying that you shouldn’t get certification, however, you’re doing it all wrong if this is your main focus or area of concentration.

This is not exclusive to coaches many entrepreneurs, small business owners spend little to no time concentrating on this one area I’m going to mention.

The one mistake you may be making is focusing about 85% of your time on the business of coaching and 15% of your time on marketing.

Here’s the scenario. You’ve studied the hours needed to fulfill your coaching certification, you have developed your programs and even identified the formats you’ll use…. now what? Exactly you’re stuck with the task of locating leads, attracting and getting clients!

What you should be focusing more on is “Marketing!” This is not the last step in your process. You should be looking into this much sooner than most coaches have. Marketing is something you must learn more about and even more specifically “online marketing.”

I’m not going to tell you that more experienced coaches are doing any better, however, my commitment is to seek out Christian Women Coaches who are in the early stages so that I can empower you to get your message out there and reach those who so need your services. If there are any coaches out there more advanced who need my support and commitment I’m available to you as well.

Are you in need of support in this area? Great! What I’ve done is set aside time for you. My Free call is designed with you in mind and I invite you to join me. I’ve only reserved about 90 phone lines so you want to get on a few minutes early.

All you need to do is go to http://bit.ly/aspiringnewcoach to register.

I’ll share additional mistakes you may be making, strategies to empower you to manifest the results you desire and more!

Of course I’d love to have you on the call live with me, however, the audio replay will be available to you for a limited time.

You’ve got a message. God’s given you gifts. Let’s get them out there!

Talk soon!

The Best Life

10744064669?profile=originalThe best tip to creating the best life is very simple.  I know many people want a 500 page book with illustrations to teach them this very secret but there is no need.  All you need to do is to treat everyone you meet, each encounter, every friend and aquaitance the way you would like to be treated.

For instance, do you want to be loved and respected? Of course, the answer is yes.  Operating in love and respect begets love and respect from everyone around you.  These are two very important questions that are a must!

                    1. Do I want the best life?

                                2. How do I treat others?

Your answers to the questions above will help with you evaluate your life.  You never know who may need a hug or just a nice smile.  So today make a vow to sow seeds of love to everyone around you and watch your life change to the best life.  A life full of happiness, peace, joy, and love!

Embrace the Entrepeneur Within

Have you ever stopped and thought about how much money you make for your boss? Have you realized that by not working for yourself, you are working to make someone else rich? Every day you spend countless hours generating income for someone you probably don't know and for a business you definitely don't own. Unfortunately, in this economy no job is secure. So, where do you find the security? What does your future look like?

If you see more prosperity in your future, then you need to take control of your life now. And that means, working for yourself! You need to put yourself in a position to FIRE YOUR BOSS! Set your own hours and reap the benefits of your hard work.

My mom had an “Embrace the Entrepeneur Within” luncheon this weekend, to empower women in their lives and in business. We had 12 to 15 women there that all had positive comments about the illustrious speaker, Melissa Taft. She spoke about the steps we need to take to change our lives for the better. She talked about asking yourself questions like, are you going through life, KNOWING it's not how you'd like it and doing NOTHING about it or are you aware of your displeasure and doing all you can in your power to change your life??? She described how there are different stages to our development in life and wherever our competency level is, is how our life is developing now. So when are you going to take control of it????

So, today the question goes to you too! Are you living your life in complete denial, ignoring all the failures around you, saying, “Oh well, it’s life!”, or are you stepping out on faith, and taking actions to change your life? The bible says "...faith without deeds is dead" James 2:26. If you're wanting a change in your life, you should be praying for a change. You shoud be taking action and doing things like giving up habits you know aren’t good for you or following through with personal goals or doing all you can to get a financial promotion or even better, taking steps to FIRE YOUR BOSS!

Do something for yourself and your family. Make a move to impact your life. Embrace the entrpeneur within today! We can help you today! ==> CLICK HERE

CEO Blueprint to Optimum Work-life Balance

CREATING A BLUEPRINT FOR OPTIMUM WORK-LIFE BALANCE
by Tangela M. Davis

B-Alert System by "The Power of Focus", Jack Canfield, Mark Hansen, Les Hewitt

“When you work, work, and when you play, play. Don’t get the two mixed up!”

You are going to walk away from this article a little more enriched in how to manage a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.” I, like some of you, may sometimes feel that you are Superman or Superwoman. “You rise early in the morning and work long hours, say you are going home to be with family and end up taking your work home with you and work even longer hours."

My topic for our April Newsletter is “Creating A Blueprint for Optimum Work-life Balance.” Do you relate to the following scenario... You rise early in the morning, no later than 6:00 am, drink 2-3 cups of coffee before you start your day, work hard all day including skipping lunch, maybe tell yourself you are going to spend time with family and will arrive home at a reasonable hour; however, you end up working later or taking work home with you and sometimes working into the wee hours.” This is becoming more and more common as people struggle to find a healthy balance in their lives. Often times greater pressures are on women, who work full time building a career or business, still expected to cook, clean and somehow cater to her family’s needs. In the mix, you lose site of taking care of yourself. Let me assure you, there is a better way and there are people who have achieved optimum balance in their daily lives. Let me share a story with you. Let’s take John and Jennifer who have been married for 15 years with two kids. Jennifer started her own business six years ago (a health spa center). This family takes annual vacations. At least six weeks off for fun every year. John and Jennifer had parents with strong values that influenced their habits growing up. An important value they learned was “If you are going to do a job, do it to the best of your ability.” Another strong value learned was saving and investing. By the time they were married, they both had a savings plan in place and they were able to maximize hetheir joint savings plan.  At work, Jennifer has a first-class personal assistant who allows her to focus on what she does best. She does not get caught up in unnecessary paperwork and rises early to kick-off her day. She rarely arrives home later than 6pm. At the beginning of the year Jennifer and John sit down and plan their personal and family goals. This includes scheduling time for vacation and mini-breaks. Twice a year Jennifer enjoys a long weekend away with her Mastermind Group to enjoy skiing.

Everyone, here is the million dollar question, “Do you enjoy a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle, doing work that you love, and that gives you an excellent financial return and allows you to have significant time off to pursue your other interest?” The answer is either “Yes” or “No.”

If your answer is “No”, let me introduce you to the B-ALERT System. If you check the dictionary for the word alert it reads “At the ready, mindful, using intelligence, on guard, conscious, and prepared.” Being at the ready every day and using intelligence will keep you mindful of your priorities and your state of balance. When you are truly alert you are more conscious of what is going on. Now what is the opposite of alert? Mindless, unprepared, unconscious, off-guard and stupid! If you had choice which side of the scale would you like to sit on?

“Every well-built house started with a definite plan in the form of blueprints.” – Napoleon Hill

B is for Blueprint– This is how you prepare for your day. You do prepare don’t you? A blueprint is simply a map for the day. There are two options for preparing your blueprint for the day. Either do it the night before or early the next morning before your day has started. You only need an extra ten to fifteen minutes to do this. Set specific time limits for your appointments. Also give over what projects must be worked on, and determine if you have reserved enough time to deal with them. It’s important to have your own blueprint recording system. Create one that works for you. For best results, keep it simple.

“The one thing that separates winners from losers is, winners take action!” – Anthony Robbins

A is for Action– When it comes to reviewing your results, the amount of action you put into your day will directly determine your score. You probably have already noticed, there is a major difference between being busy and taking specific, well-planned action. You can have a busy day with nothing to show for it. You didn’t move closer to accomplishing you goals. The day passed you by. You allowed little emergencies or yourself to be interrupted to many times during the day. Concentrate on the activities that produce the greatest results for you. Set limits on what you will and will not do. Delegate effectively, and be alert to stepping outside your boundaries.  When you are on vacation or having a day off for fun, your action is to simply enjoy yourself.

There are essentially two things that will make you wiser – The books you read and the people you meet. – Charles “Tremendous” Jones

L is for Learning– Another well-balanced day includes taking time to expand your knowledge. Develop the habit of reading at least twenty to thirty minutes in the morning. It’s a great way to start your day. What should you read? Anything that is stimulating, challenging or that gives you an edge in your industry or profession. What ever you do, avoid digesting any negative portions of the newspaper or internet. Thousands of books reveal the lives of interesting and successful people, from sports, stars and celebrities to adventurers, entrepreneurs and great leaders. There is a wealth of ideas in these books waiting to be absorbed by anyone with a little curiosity and desire to do better. Turn your car into a learning center. AudioCDs are one the most productive ways to expand your awareness. Tuning in for twenty minutes a day will give you over 100 hours per year to learn more. Finally, you can learn a lot more by observing and studying other people. What do wealthy people do? How did they become rich? Another idea for learning is to invite a successful person out to lunch every month – someone you really respect and admire. Drag the lunch out, the more courses the better. Ask questions. You’ll uncover a wealth of information.

“Having all the money in the world isn’t much good if you can hardly get out of bed in the morning to enjoy it.” – Author Unknown

E is for Exercise– I hear the “Oh Nos”. Do you want to be rich in health? Creating an excellent balance in your life means you don’t treat your health lightly. A little daily exercise is part of the prescription. About twenty minutes is all you need. One of the easiest ways to exercise is to enjoy a brisk walk. If you take fifteen minutes and walk around the block a few times, your body will thank you. If you take a forty-five minute walk four days a week you can lose up to 18lbs over the course of a year, without dieting.
  • Exercising improves your sleeping habits.
  • Exercising increases your energy levels.
  • Exercising relieves stress and anxiety.
  • Exercising protects you against injury.
  • Exercising promotes a health posture.
  • Exercising relieves digestive disorders.
  • Exercising enhances your self-image.
  • Exercising expands your longevity.

A final thought on good health. Make it a study. Find out more about your metabolism and how to optimize the magnificent vehicle you have been given.

“Oh, to be free from the stifling pressures of life – to rest, a peaceful slumber that will rejuvenate my soul. – Les Hewitt

R is for Relaxing– This is the time to recharge your batteries during the day. Take a TPM. Twenty-five Peaceful Minutes. You may understand it as taking a nap. In warmer climates, a siesta is a normal part of the day. When you were a young child, your mother probably put you down for nap after lunch. As an adult, why not do the same. It’s good for you. You’re probably thinking, you are crazy, I don’t have enough time as it is without snoozing the afternoon away. Let me assure you that the most progressive and profitable organizations realize that a highly productive workforce is not achieved by pushing people until they drop from exhaustion. This doesn’t mean you need to lower your performance standards. Consider a TPM when you arrive home from the office. If you can plan a TPM for yourself before you switch roles, it will give you a chance to catch your breath, relax and mentally ready to focus on the family. If you plan to take one day off per week, make sure it’s a full 24 hours. Call it fun-time. This means the entire 24 hours you do nothing business related. If you have worked long, hard hours all week, you deserve a break to re-energize.

“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.” – Peace Pilgrim

T is for Thinking– If you want to have unusual clarity about what is working and what is not working in your life, schedule time for reflective thinking. At the end of your workday, or just before you go to bed, take a few minutes to take a mental snapshot of the day. Regard each day as a mini-movie with you as the star. How did you do? Rerun the CD and take another look. What did you do well? Focus daily on the progress you made. Be alert to any shortcomings, but don’t beat yourself up. Learn from your mistakes. Make reflection a daily habit. It only takes a few minutes, and it will make you stronger and wiser in the weeks and months ahead.

In conclusion, would you enjoy a better balance in your life if you had a clear blueprint for the day, were able to stay focused on your most important activities, maximized your energy and clarity with a little exercise and reflective thinking, and had some time off for fun? The answer is obvious. Of course you would! Make the effort and leverage the B-Alert System. Remember excellent balance will greatly enrich your mind, body and spirit, not to mention your relationships and bank account!

A vehicle needs a tune up every two years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. The key to keeping a vehicle in good working condition is scheduling regular maintenance.  Right?  Well, just as your car needs scheduled care, so does your business.  According to Browder, founder of National Association Women on the Rise, it is vital that entrepreneurs get in the habit of looking “under the hood” regularly.  That means reviewing your operations, marketing and financial processes.  So, are you performing regularly scheduled maintenance for your business?  Here are 3 tips to tune-up your business.

Change the oil

Regularly changing your car's engine oil and filter is one of the most important things you can do to keep your car running well.  Consistent maintenance to your business each year is equally important.  Take some time to look at your business processes.  Think about your accomplishments.  Is there room for improvement?  Here are two ideas.

  • Reflect on the successes and failures of your professional and personal life.  Have you considered what changes you would like to implement this year?  As women entrepreneurs, it is important to look for ways to improve work-life balance.  Take some time to reflect on your business' progress and make plans on how you want your business to grow.
  • Reorganize to get rid of clutter.  What have you accumulated this past year that is hindering you from functioning at your optimal best?  Write down all the things that are cluttering your mind, distorting your life’s vision.  Take each of the things on your list and ask yourself the following questions:
  1. Why am I holding on to this clutter?
  2. What purpose does it serve?
  3. How do I rid myself of it?

Clutter can be distracting while adding to the chaos in our lives.

Check engine light

The "check engine" light is part of your vehicle's onboard diagnostics (OBD) system. If a problem in the electronic-control system doesn’t ‘fix’ itself, the computer that controls the OBD turns on a yellow warning indicator that's labeled "check engine.  Ignore the warning and you could damage expensive components.

Just as your engine is vital to your vehicle, your clients are the engine that drives the success in your business.  Do you know who your clients are?  Have you refined your target market (clients) to increase your bottom line?  We all know that the success of your business depends on making sales.  To identify your target client, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Do you know who your customers will be?
  2. Do you understand their needs?
  3. Do you know where they are located?
  4. Will you offer the kind of products or services that they will buy?
  5. Will your prices be competitive?
  6. Do you understand how your business compares with your competitors?
  7. Will your business be conveniently located?

By refining your target market, you are ensuring the success of your business!

Balance the tires

Balanced tires are imperative to safe driving. When the tires are out of balance, they place pressure on the bearings, shocks and other parts of the wheel assembly. When your business is out of balance, you can lose current and potential clients which can cause the loss of revenue or worse, your business!

Is your business running smoothly? Re-examine contracts with your suppliers such as telephone service, business and life insurance policies.  Look for ways to cut costs.  Check out your current memberships; local chambers and business and civic associations to make sure you are getting the most for your money.  In addition:

  • Create new revenue streams.
  • Find innovative ways to promote your business and attract potential clients.

In conclusion, by taking control of your business and keeping it running at peak performance, will increase your chances for success and profitability!

Are you struggling with the emotion fear?

Why are you struggling? Isn’t it time to take control and acquire the necessary skills to combat fear. I’m not saying to focus on fear because “what you focus on expands!”

There’s no time to contemplate or ponder this thing. It’s time now to break free so you can live your best life ever!

Here are three reasons that you must break free from fear now!

Fear is a Dream Killer
Like procrastination, fear is a thief of time and I know all to well
about this one. There are many opportunities that have been lost
because of fear. I’m sure you can think of some missed opportunities
of your own. This will continue to happen unless you break free.
The life of your dreams is at stake. You must break free now!

Fear is a toxin
Our subconscious mind receives messages from our thoughts and actions
and it doesn’t know whether it’s a temporary or insincere thought.
No, our subconscious mind gets to work on whatever we send its way.
So in essence fear is a toxin to the subconscious mind.

Fear is not a part of God’s plan and is not from God
In the bible we read that God has not given us a spirit of
fear but He’s given us power, love and a sound mind. So if
God didn’t give it to us then we shouldn’t have it and it
hinders the flow of blessing on our lives.

Your goal should never be to focus on totally being free from fear,
that would be unbalanced, however, you should learn keys and the
necessary mindset shifts needed to empower you to live a life free
from the bondage of fear.

What will you do if you never break free? You don’t have to wait
any longer.

I invite you to request access to my FREE laser coaching call “Blast fear, procrastination and get focused!” You’ll hear the value added content I shared and hear the laser coaching a few of the ladies experienced with me on the call.
