The Saw U Range - 2008

The Simone Williams label launches its new ready to wear brand SAW U this Autumn/Winter with a collection of fashionable and vibrant pieces for the discerning fashionista.Saw U is a new range of affordable, ready to wear garments under the Simone Williams Label. Without compromising quality for price, it still offers a touch of glamour and finesse to suit every woman’s wardrobe. The range is inspired by city life and encompasses the urban chic and style that make living in a city like London so exciting. The Simone Williams fashion label has been up and running since the summer of 2004 and is based in Hoxton, London. As a black British female, establishing her unique vision in an already competitive market has been difficult but Simone is quick to encourage more African and Caribbean designers to break the mould and not be defined by stereotypes. “Haute Couture and high end fashion can be enjoyed not only in the upper echelons of the European community but also amongst the African and Caribbean Diaspora” states her Business partner, Ronke Lawal. With this vision for class and quality the Saw U label is in keeping with the Simone Williams label as a whole. Be seen in Saw U…www.simonewilliams.co.ukinfo@simonewilliams.co.uk

The Color Purple

Sista, you've been on my mind . . . Okay not The Color Purple movie, I just love that song. This is about the COLOR purple. Purple is the color for fall. It's the new "black." It's the new "brown." It's the foundation color around which the fall wardrobe is being built.

The darker hues such as mulberry, magenta, eggplant, burgundy and dark violet are all prominent in fall fashions. Mix them with black or brown components like in the new Max Studio collection.

Nails continue to be dark, but there are lighter colors in the purple family. OPI's Couture Couleur La Collection de France features colors like the eggplant "Yes I Can-Can" and the wine "Eiffel for this Color." Lovely purple colors inspired by France.
For the brave and daring, go dark with the lipstick too.

The Pink Locket Fashion Week Picks

Since this week is Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week, here at The Pink Locket we have interrupted our regularly scheduled blogging to give you our selection on what we think is hot in Spring 2009 fashion. We hope you enjoy our picks.Designer, Tracy Reese unveiled her Spring 2009 line on Sunday, September 7th. The accessory that really caught the eye was this wrap around gold chain necklace. It looks so versatile and can be worn with almost any outfit. Not to mention it looks absolutely great against the color orange. The dangle metal pieces on the end also make a great accent on the necklace, giving that extra detail. This is definitely a worthwhile investment.By: Kamilah C.The Pink Lockethttp://thepinklocket.com

My Grandmother's Purse

What I love about accessories is that even an antique piece looks pretty when you wear it today. I remember my grandmother would pass along some of her small handbags and jewelry pieces to my sister and I. In fact on my wedding day, my “something old” was a gold kitten brooch my grandmother gave me when I was 10 years old.If you love antique and vintage items as much as I do then you may want to check out this gold and green vintage chain mesh purse by Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry. It does more than just tell a story that has lasted generations. It reminds us that even back then women took pride in their treasured pieces. Designed with pure precision and craft, this piece is pricey but there’s nothing wrong with having a wish list.By: Kamilah CampbellThe Pink Lockethttp://thepinklocket.com

What little girl doesn’t like jewelry? I know when I was younger my sister and I use to dress in my mom’s high heels and put jewelry and lipstick on because we thought it was fun. This seems to be a common trend from generation to generation because little girls still do this today. Well, why not let your little princess dress in her jewelry? The Pink Locket has created a collection exclusively for little ladies who love to dress up along with the color pink. Etsy Store Feature-Designs By Janna

I have to admit ever since I moved to Atlanta last year I’ve had to rock “the ponytail” look quite frequently because the heat and humidity made my hair look like Diana Ross. One of my fellow brilliant Georgia Etsians designs these cute fabric ponytail holders, check out Designs By Janna at http://designsbyjanna.etsy.com. These holders come in various patterned designs and will accent any ponytail! My personal favorite is the “Pink and Brown Dandy Damask.” The prices are also pretty reasonable, a set ranges anywhere from $3.75 to $5.25.By: Kamilah Campbellhttp://thepinklocket.comhttp://thepinklocket.etsy.comWOLF125.jpg
