It's Here! It's Here!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! My first CD dropped on 04/08/2009!My passion to serve others through health care is one that fills me up with ideas always wondering what else can I do to reach others. Well, I decided to create a CD for newly diagnosed cancer patients. I am aware of all of the reading material that exists on cancer. However, I conducted surveys and I have found that many people become overwhelmed reading and at times not being able to understand or retain the information that they have read especially during this difficult time. There are so many barriers that prevents people from following through with the information that may bring some clarity to their situation. I also took into consideration the people with special needs, those who may not be able to read but could listen to the information with the option of pausing, and listening as often as they would like to.The Day that Changed My Life - Cancer An Uncertain Journey (for newly diagnosed cancer patients, their families, friends, health care professionals and clergy)was released on 04/08/2009. It is available worldwide on www.audible.com and www.audible.co.ukWhat happens when you hear those words? The results are in and you have cancer. This CD will take the listener through the stages from the time of diagnosis through the treatment phases, with nutritional and alternative treatment options, the highs and the lows with words of hopes from cancer survivors. Please feel free to spread the word and pass it on to others.

Too busy to live?

Are you too busy to live?Every year Americans die from a lack of proper management andcare for our health . I know you don't have time to take a 20minute walk at least 2 times per week. It's too much to take time toplan my meals so that I don't consume too much food with empty calories,or overwork your heart with saturated fats.....sure we only live onceand must enjoy ourselves with over indulgence with desserts, fats, carbohydrates, sodas, fries, burgers, alcohol and...need I say more?Read the following study done by HHS' Centers for DiseaseControl and Prevention (CDC)...........Mortality for several leading causes of death declined in 1999,according to preliminary figures from HHS' Centers for DiseaseControl and Prevention (CDC), released today by HHS SecretaryTommy G. "You don't have to work up a big sweat at the gym or becomea long-distance runner. Just 30 minutes of walking a day, five days a week, can significantlyimprove your health. Playing with your kids in thebackyard for an hour each day can help the whole family stayhealthy."http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/releases/02news/physical_activity.htmWell, I don't know about you, but I'm not to busy too live."Don't bother me....I'm living!" Putting myself back on the list!

I watch Oprah a few weeks ago and one thing I remember her saying she was “putting her self back on her to do list”. I got so caught up in building a business, developing a new marriage, that I put myself on the bottom of the list. I quit exercise, stop preparing healthier meals and started eating fast food! Because I stop taking care of me I gain over 30 pound (WOW) just to say that is painful but I am not ashamed! Before the New Year had begun I started getting back in the grove of exercising and taking steps to eating better.I am putting myself first on my two do list. I get up in the morning and I go to God before I do anything. Through prayer, reading the bible, listen to great biblical teaching on God word, it has help me for two weeks to maintain my exercising routine and today I started running! WOW I thank God for the will and the strength to get my health were it should be both spiritually and naturally. My personal scripture for the yearZechariah 4:6:6Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, “This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, `Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the LORD of hosts.Make 2009 your year!Sheyawww.naturallynurturingbeauty.com/blog

The Toxic Job

Is your JOB toxic?? We have all heard of toxic relationships and friendships. You know the ones that bring you down, lead you down the wrong path, or cause you more harm or hurt than good. So, is your JOB toxic? And how can you tell. If your immediate response to the question was yes, then case closed. If you are not so sure whether your job is toxic or not, I have some things you may want to think about. I'm not professing to be a career counselor, or anything like that, but I had a conversation with a friend that some people may be able to relate to...~ Signs your job may be "toxic" ~- Are you literally saddened by thoughts of your job or the thought of going to work?- Do you constantly go to work in a good mood, but leave angry or depressed?- Have you or are you developing health issues, (for example, high blood pressure, ulceres, anxiety) due to job related stress?- Does your job consumes all aspects of your life, even when you don't want it to?- Does your job interfere with your personal life or cause a strain in your personal relationships? You know, you are constantly missing valuable family time because you have to work late or bring the job home with you. ( Think carefully about this, don't confuse it with a toxic relationship at home)- Has your behavior change negatively since you have been working at your job.?- Do the practices of your company conflict with your personal values?I think that if you've answered yes to more than one or two of these questions then you may have a toxic situation on your hands. But what should you do about it? Now, with the economy today, I would not advise just quitting. 71,000 jobs were lost on Monday, 10,000 on Wednesday, and there are certainly more to come. So chances of getting hired somewhere else are slim. But in the meantime, see if there are other ways to survive and keep your sanity. Instead of griping about your job, thank God, that you have a means to provide for yourself or your family. While you are there, take comfort in knowing that you are doing the best that you can do while you are at work. Set limitations for your self try to work late only once or twice a week, and then set limitations on how late you will stay. Say I'm leaving at "x o'clock" no matter what. And stick to it. If possible, find something you do like, whether it be another job, or your own business. And by all means, be sure not to take the stresses of the day out on your loved ones. They will be there for you long after that job has passed.

Me Time!

Sometimes I just don't feel cute. I'm feeling a little overweight, my hair may not be doing what I want it to do. I just have a case of the blahs! Do you ever feel that way? As women and as mothers, we just have those days sometimes. We're taking care of the kids, the husband, the house, the business, everything but oops! we foregot to take care of self. Forgetting to take that "Me Time" could lead to more stress, which could lead to irritability, insomnia, weight gain and a host of other medical problems. But there is hope. We can de-stress by beginning to lead and live a Self-Caring Lifestyle. We can and need to exercise daily, eat healthier (eat those fruits and vegetables that momma always told us to eat), pray, meditate, get our rest and learn how to relax. Learning how to take care of ourselves will ultimately lead to having more energy and vitality, we'll be calmer and have more peace, we'll listen better which will lead to better relationships, overall we'll live a healtier, balanced life.To implement some "Me Time" here are some suggestions:Daily affirmations. Every day look in the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and state your affirmations. (This may feel weird, but it will help)Write daily in your journal about all experiences in your life. Start a gratitude journal and write about all the things you are grateful for.Listen to your favorite music, dance like nobody's watchingRead, draw, sing, whatever you love to do, do it!Be still. Take time to just sit in silence and allow Spirit to speak to you.Take a Spa Break. Take a warm bath using your favorite natural products, light a natural soy candle in your favorite scent. Put on your favorite natural perfume scent on all those special spots, put on some soothing music and relax.Love yourself and just Be!Imaging Life.....Daphne, Your DIVA with a Soulful Purpose!www.eshe.weebly.comwww.eshe.soulpurpose.net

Leave disease and illness in 2008, renew your mind daily on The Well-Side.For many years I suffered with several illnesses and was told that it was normal. Then I realized the importance of food and how it can heal the body. I released my ownership of disease and illness and decided to choose Wholeness. I can hear my body more clearly; I make better choices, and live with the respect of self and others. So I ask you, “What are you possessing?” On this last day of 2008 make the choice to renew your Total Body-Consciousness daily by making choices that add to you.You no longer have to live a life where food is your enemy.Tips to come to The Well-SideAche or pain - find the root cause of the issue before using medication to mask the symptom.Proactive - ask questions when you visit your care provider, know your body, never take possession of a diagnosis, seek options to make an informed choice to eradicate the cause of the illness.Self-Love – respect yourself enough to get the proper rest (no just sleeping), take time to spend alone to meditate/pray, be honest with yourself and others, know when and how to say “NO!”Leave the baggage behind – let go of foods you know are not working for you. Stop trying to convince yourself that this is the last time, find an alternative.Recreate – if you do not like your reflection change it. Stop receiving how others define you and create yourself for who you are (Be-come who you desire to BE). You make your own reality.Exercise – do it. Start small and increase but get started. Walk, jump rope, roller skate, run, play with your children, too many options for excuses. If you do not make these changes for yourself think of those who love and care for you, do it for them. Why shorten your life when you can live a long abundant life.“Total Body-Consciousness possess yours in 2009”Say this until you begin to live it “Wellness is Mine in 2009!”

Health Issues for African American Women

Its that time of year again to make pledges and resolutions to get in shape, lose weight and make some changes. Let us be proactive this year and start now, lets work out ways to develop the tools we need to avoid stress. There are always statistics that tell us over and over that African have higher incidences of health disparities compared to other ethnic groups. We can choose to not listen because we may not want to believe the reports that African Americans have more cases of disease, disability, and early death compared to Whites but it is still an issue that we must examine. We cannot afford to dismiss the statistics, we must take an assessment of our individual health status.Motivation is a constant struggle due to work pressures, financial concerns and the every day occurrences resulting from how we choose to live our lives. Ask yourself this question: “Do I want to be trapped in a body that I cannot control?” I know you are saying that is not my situation and that will not happen to me. I am able to walk, talk, bathe myself, feed myself and take care of myself relatively well. I have health care and I hardly get sick, so I am exempt from this question.Or I have no health care, I exercise regularly and take supplements, I even get acupuncture treatments and watch my diet. Whatever we are doing is good, we can all take stock of ourselves on a regular basis and make improvements. If none of this applies to you, that is great, so help someone else to get motivated and get moving.African American women experience multiple health issues because we neglect our health even when we think we are healthy. African American women are less likely to receive health care; when they do receive care, they are more likely to receive it late. Having no noticeable symptoms is not an indication of good health. Many skip breakfast and opt for something quick with coffee, juice or tea with way too much sugar.Read more

You all know how it is when you see that family member that just LOVES to say that one thing to rattle your nerves to your core! All you can do is scream, shriek and cry in the corner--or go out and do something questionable, such as over-indulging in the holiday punch or connecting up with old flames you know you ought not even speak, too. However, what happens when you have experienced a severe mental and nervous breakdown? What should you do?If you are around family or friends and you have a compelling need to get out, then what you do is say, "I am going to get out" and just leave the hot situation. For every minute of heated arguing, it takes 20-30 minutes to cool off and speak from a more serene place. If you are alone, know that you are not alone in your place, there are kindred spirits that need you to succeed and if you feel like you may harm yourself, please go to the following website and email/call The Samaritans for a lifeline. You’re Beautiful, Woman! Wins a gold medal for ethnic beauty!Just one day after the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing; 8 Beautiful women came together on the 9th August 2008 to organise a wonderful event celebrating black women’s beauty in all its forms. From Black Hair care to foot care, from spiritual well being to fashion this event held at The Imperial War Museum was a huge success. With a diverse business background the self-proclaimed Dream Team were able to organise this superb event with so much positivity and grace that people are already asking when the next event will be!Some of the feedback on the date:Just wanted to say thank-you for organising such a nice event yesterday. It was very informative and fun. I look forward to the next event.Kind Regards,AThank you for what was a most inspiring and enlightening event on Saturday. The Seminars were well organized and apart from the technical hiccup went very well. I attended all seminars apart from the Health & Fitness by Lorna (due to my enjoying a wonderful facial) and I got a lot from each and everyone. From Vivienne's make-up session, Angie's enlightening info on hair to Hannah's inspiring talk, both my friends and I had everyone one of our objective boxes ticked. My 'Sisters' came for 'confidence boost' and 'next step' inspiration for radical career moves and they got it. We met some lovely people during the networking sessions which we will follow up on.It is clear that a lot of hard work went into this event and only the good Lord knows how you managed to bag such a wonderful venue as the Imperial War Museum. With best wishes,MThe Dream Team consisting of 8 beautiful black women are as follows:Ronke Lawal - www.rslmanagementservices.co.uk - Sophia Jackson - www.afridiziak.com - Angel Smith www.shoelagoon.com - Ronke Adeyemi www.themusingsofondolady.blogspot.com- Angie Brice www.thehairoine.com Hanna Hunter www.activateachievement.com - Lillian Ogbogoh www.vividoccasions.com - Maggie Udofia www.vividoccasions.com -For more information on the You’re Beautiful, Woman event please email urbeautifulwoman@gmail.comwww.yourebeautifulwoman.comhttp://www.myspace.com/urbeautifulwoman

Why Liquid Vitamins?

When choosing your nutritional supplement, liquid vitamins are definately the way to go for maximum absorption. No athlete that wants to perform at their peak should be without 1st being on a daily liquid vitamin supplement such as GBG liquid vitamins for Energy. The B vitamins are a group of eight individual vitamins, often referred to as the B-complex vitamins. So now you can begin to understand why Kellogg’s and your mother made sure you included these essential vitamins in your diet.Vitamins are molecular compounds made of organic chemicals that cannot be produced by the human body, but are necessary for its survival. Organic means they contain carbon, and in addition to which they are made up from hydrogen, oxygen, and a few with nitrogen and/or other elements in lesser quantities. Some of the other aspects of health that vitamins are concerned with include the formation of proteins crucial for blood clotting (vitamin K), inhibition of oxidation in body tissues (vitamin E), and the production of collagen (vitamin C). One-A-Day vitamins are one of the biggest rip-offs in the world, but since they are made by Bayer Aspirin, what else would you expect. It is difficult to compare a product like One-A-Day with a product like GBG vitamins. According to the Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR) liquid vitamins are 98% absorbed while vitamins in tablet form are only 10 - 20% absorbed. That means when you take tablets like one a day, 90% of the vitamins could be flushed down the toilet.Watch this video for more information
