Speak

SpeakThe days go by and the nights seem endless but stillI find the strength to continue on this forever journey to be heard.I've kept quite for so long and now I long to be freeFree to speak my mind of ever flowing thoughtsThat had long ago stayed within me.I've come to realize that in this journey we call lifeIt’s meant to be explored to definite fullness to completeEach and every chapter of our written story. To come full circle and have a sense of completenessIs what I seekTo live to become and be at easeFor so long I have waited for someone to understandThe things that I have gone throughTo find the words that I seek.I have been raped, beaten and robbed of my self esteemIn my past and no longer will I be afraid to speak upTo the things that used to frighten me so fiercelyThat it caused me to shut my eyesClose my ears and seal my mouthSo that I was unable to be within reach. Not anymore will I submit to this self tormentI will speak with my eyes so that you may see tearsI will open my mouth so that I may send my voiceFrom one end of the earth to another andI will listen to what all has to be said after I have spoken. There is no better way of saying thatI’ve overcome a struggle and this is where the journey nearsA completion that has given me closure to move onTo another chapter of my story.

At a time when the world is reeling from the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression, most people are experiencing an economic recession that will undoubtedly have an impact on their lives in 2009. Each day we hear about companies failing, industries needing government assistance, retailers struggling, increased joblessness, housing foreclosures, and more. Even more overwhelming and frustrating are our daily thoughts, feelings and activities that revolve around a busy schedule, a stalled business, a stressful job, a contract that ended unexpectedly or didn’t materialize, the rumors of job layoffs, an unfulfilled relationship, a pending divorce, the memories of an unresolved past, a medical condition, a mountain of bills, and so much more. All of which have the potential to stifle our desires and intentions to implement and/or sustain healthier lifestyle habits. So, how do you plan to address your desire to live healthier in the midst of a life full of hassles, demands, obligations, and uncertainty? Which lifestyle habits will you try to spend more time on? What will you decrease spending on to live healthier? As you began to sift through those thoughts and feelings about how your life has been and will be impacted by the state of the world and your personal circumstances, and those actions you intend to modify in 2009, don’t put off evaluating those related to healthier lifestyle habits. It’s no secret that when you have so many feelings, thoughts, interests, and activities vying your attention, the idea of exercising or eating healthier will inevitably and continuously be placed on the back burner. There is never time enough time in the day to exercise or prepare a home cooked meal, get a sufficient amount of sleep, drink the appropriate levels of water, or get that much needed annual physical examination. Are you one of those people? Now is the time for you to sit down at your kitchen table and focus on how you’re going to achieve the following three important tasks related to living healthier: (1) conduct a self-examination of those things that challenge you everyday, (2) develop a plan for how you’re going to align living healthier with your pursuits and challenges, and (3) implement your plan that will help to alleviate a continuum of poor lifestyle choices. The one thing you have to your advantage is the power of choice; taking responsibility for your actions and learning that your faith, determination, and perseverance are necessary for overcoming your challenges, rearranging your priorities, and embracing healthier lifestyle habits. One of the most important transactions you’ll make in 2009 will be to live healthier in the midst of it all. This health and fitness dialogue is provided for your consideration only. Live a life of Self-care

What is a Self Caring Lifestyle?Self Care is exactly what it sounds like. It is the caring for self. It's not being selfish. It's being aware of the fact that you can't give what you don't have. If you have no sense of self and how to love on self than how do you expect to give it to others. I had to learn this. I put all my time and effort into my children and my family that I took no time to just work on me. This made me stressed out, irritable and just not the joyful person that God wants and expects me to be. It carries over into every aspect of your life. It's a journey not to go back, but well worth it. When you are being your best then you can give your best. You're a better mother, a better mate, friend, sister; you are just a better person.Self care is about more than tending to the physical, which can be getting your hair or nails done. It's about more than grooming. Self care emcompases the Mind, Body, and Spirit. When you choose to take part in activities that nurture, renew and fortify all three of these elements of self, than you are not only practicing but living a Self Caring Lifestyle. Self Care takes care of the inside as well as the outside, it's a lifestyle not a hobby. We'll take a further look at what needs to be present and the steps we can take to begin our journey to a Self Care Lifestyle.Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)Imagine Life...Be Empowered...Live on Purpose!DaphneYour Self-care Sistah / Lifestyle Entrepreneurwww.eshe.weebly.comwww.eshe.soulpurpose.netwww.divawithsoul.blogspot.com

Me Time!

Sometimes I just don't feel cute. I'm feeling a little overweight, my hair may not be doing what I want it to do. I just have a case of the blahs! Do you ever feel that way? As women and as mothers, we just have those days sometimes. We're taking care of the kids, the husband, the house, the business, everything but oops! we foregot to take care of self. Forgetting to take that "Me Time" could lead to more stress, which could lead to irritability, insomnia, weight gain and a host of other medical problems. But there is hope. We can de-stress by beginning to lead and live a Self-Caring Lifestyle. We can and need to exercise daily, eat healthier (eat those fruits and vegetables that momma always told us to eat), pray, meditate, get our rest and learn how to relax. Learning how to take care of ourselves will ultimately lead to having more energy and vitality, we'll be calmer and have more peace, we'll listen better which will lead to better relationships, overall we'll live a healtier, balanced life.To implement some "Me Time" here are some suggestions:Daily affirmations. Every day look in the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and state your affirmations. (This may feel weird, but it will help)Write daily in your journal about all experiences in your life. Start a gratitude journal and write about all the things you are grateful for.Listen to your favorite music, dance like nobody's watchingRead, draw, sing, whatever you love to do, do it!Be still. Take time to just sit in silence and allow Spirit to speak to you.Take a Spa Break. Take a warm bath using your favorite natural products, light a natural soy candle in your favorite scent. Put on your favorite natural perfume scent on all those special spots, put on some soothing music and relax.Love yourself and just Be!Imaging Life.....Daphne, Your DIVA with a Soulful Purpose!www.eshe.weebly.comwww.eshe.soulpurpose.net

You're Beautiful, Woman 2008

You’re Beautiful, Woman! Wins a gold medal for ethnic beauty!Just one day after the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing; 8 Beautiful women came together on the 9th August 2008 to organise a wonderful event celebrating black women’s beauty in all its forms. From Black Hair care to foot care, from spiritual well being to fashion this event held at The Imperial War Museum was a huge success. With a diverse business background the self-proclaimed Dream Team were able to organise this superb event with so much positivity and grace that people are already asking when the next event will be!Some of the feedback on the date:Just wanted to say thank-you for organising such a nice event yesterday. It was very informative and fun. I look forward to the next event.Kind Regards,AThank you for what was a most inspiring and enlightening event on Saturday. The Seminars were well organized and apart from the technical hiccup went very well. I attended all seminars apart from the Health & Fitness by Lorna (due to my enjoying a wonderful facial) and I got a lot from each and everyone. From Vivienne's make-up session, Angie's enlightening info on hair to Hannah's inspiring talk, both my friends and I had everyone one of our objective boxes ticked. My 'Sisters' came for 'confidence boost' and 'next step' inspiration for radical career moves and they got it. We met some lovely people during the networking sessions which we will follow up on.It is clear that a lot of hard work went into this event and only the good Lord knows how you managed to bag such a wonderful venue as the Imperial War Museum. With best wishes,MThe Dream Team consisting of 8 beautiful black women are as follows:Ronke Lawal - www.rslmanagementservices.co.uk - Sophia Jackson - www.afridiziak.com - Angel Smith www.shoelagoon.com - Ronke Adeyemi www.themusingsofondolady.blogspot.com- Angie Brice www.thehairoine.com Hanna Hunter www.activateachievement.com - Lillian Ogbogoh www.vividoccasions.com - Maggie Udofia www.vividoccasions.com -For more information on the You’re Beautiful, Woman event please email urbeautifulwoman@gmail.comwww.yourebeautifulwoman.comhttp://www.myspace.com/urbeautifulwoman

It was Kamal Imani's first time performing his spoken word/Neo Soul song "Lovin Her Nappy Nappy" live at the Bowery. He wanted to rock it right for promoter and CEO of Brown Eyez Magazines "PJ". The audience was with him and they all had a good time lovin the nappy nappy. This song is a tribute and dedication to natural hair styles and the sisters who rock them. You know ladies, I was just thinking how we take care of everyone in the world first before ourselves. Our careers, our families, our extended families, our friends. What do we do for us?I have recently started a monthly program among my friends by having them host a "Just for me" day. During this time we have girl talk, we pamper ourself and it's funny. I find that most of us do not take time out to enjoy pampering ourselves. We haven't taken time to smell the roses. We don't have a clue on the next best thing that is healthy for us. Don't even talk about what our plan B is. Most of us don't even have plan A.What about the men? Most of us have just plain old settled. Settled for men that not only don't suit us the Queens we are, but we take so much mess off of them.I also learned that there are so many women that are in just plain unhealthy relationship. We I don't know if I am on a track here with starting girl power up again. But I have a mission to get all my sister involved in spending some quality time for just you.If you are in my area and like to get together for some REAL Pampering Girls Time. Look me up. Meanwhile enjoy my complimentary virtual spa online. www.virtualspa.moonfruit.comWhat our "Just For Me' Day involves:Organic hand treatment with silk most of the ladies say, "they can't stop touching themselves" after using it. We follow this with a shea body balm treatment.Moving on to the relaxation: The ladies soak in my therapeudic 100% detoxifying Dead Sea Salt soak. While soaking they enjoy some spa music, wine and a relaxing eye pillow treatment. They don't want to walk up. There is no screaming children around calling your name. "Just For Me' time is just that, just for me.If you would like to get a sample or order these items, please go to my website: www.debsoulpurpose.moonfruit.com
