Women’s Empowerment incorporates various components that when successfully integrated will yield a greater return on your endeavors.
As a woman you have many demands on your time, however, if you add that of being a woman entrepreneur it can be a very frustrating task to leverage your time. It may seem that the more you try to balance out your day the less time you end up with.
Do you feel like your day is spent in “firefighter” mode – putting out one emergency blaze after another?
You can easily spend eight hours or more at the beck and call of the urgent activities on your list: The phone call that comes right when you’re sitting down to do some much-needed strategic planning, the unexpected invitation to contribute to a blog round-up, the desperate plea for a last-minute speaker on an industry teleconference. While these all might be worthy tasks, they’re not necessarily related
to your high-level goals. And as a result, the time you’ve set aside for your important activities can be usurped by the tyranny of the urgent.
It is very tempting to check emails all day every hour or answer your phone overtime it rings.
If you want to manifest your EMPIRE by moving toward the next levels quickly you must have a system for focusing on important tasks instead of the urgent ones.
Here are five tips for prioritizing
1. Set expectations. I’ve had mixed feedback on this one. I’ve developed a system and enforce it so that I can remain healthy and sane. When doing this one you must get over what people think of you and commit to what you’ve set as an action to support your empowering success. You train people how to treat you and what to expect from you. If you always respond to their emails immediately, they’ll grow to expect immediate answers. Slowly wean them from expecting you to be on-call, 24/7.
2. Create No distraction zones. Although you may be tempted to shut down your phone, email and other interruptions for 8 – 10 hours, it’s actually not practical to turn off your phone ringer for 8 hours straight, or to check your email only once a day. But you can set up zones where you limit outside interruptions. Start with a no email time first thing in the morning. Institute a quiet time first thing in the morning for one hour.
Get to the cash producing activities before you check email. Once you’ve adjusted to this you can add another quiet zone, maybe in the afternoon right before you quit working. This way you can close your day and have a fresh empowering start the next day.
3.Know what “important” is. No more 10 item to do lists. You have to have your high-level goals in front of you, literally and figuratively. You must know what you’re trying to accomplish this month, this week, today, so you can filter your activities accordingly.
4. Create systems to support your new habits. This one tip has done wonders for some of my clients that I’ve shared it with. Email in-box filters that shuffle non-critical newsletters and group emails to another filter for later reading will help keep you from getting sidetracked. Removing all non-essential programs and icons from your computer desktop (and from your physical desktop, too!) can keep you focused. Figure out where you’re getting derailed and create some boundaries to keep you on task.
You can realize productive days instead of just busy, overwhelming, pull your hair out days, however, as I always say don’t just learn new skills and systems, take targeted action and implement.
I’ll share this and more in more detail during The Empowerment Diva’s Fit and Fabulous Coaching Program/Club.

If you are a self-employed individual or running a small business, check out 7 quick things you need to do BEFORE or by January 31, 2011 to stay in good graces with the IRS!
1. ISSUE 1099s - If you hired an independent contractor in 2010 or worked with a non incorporated business, you must issue 1099 by January 31, 2011. You still have until February 28 to actually report to the IRS giving time for any corrections, however you should ensure your contractors and vendors have received their 1099 by the 31st.
2. ISSUE W-2s - Did you hire any employees in 2010? Even part-time? Seasonal? Aside from ensuring you did apply for employer tax numbers, you should also ensure you submit your employees (even terminated ones) W-2s by the 31st. If you use a payroll service, check with them to ensure your payroll records are accurate and complete before issuing W-2s.
It's the start of the new year which for many of us means new beginnings, resolutions and planning for tax season. Some of us are looking for a "do over" and want to start this year off on a better foot regarding our finances. I know BEEN THERE!
Well for many micro businesses whose personal life and business life blur starting over can be frustrating and intimidating. I have 3 quick tips to help you restart your Micro Business for 2011 with a simple mindset change:
1. Hire an Accountant! - I know of course an accountant will say that but it's TRUE! Knowing the importance of having a professional at your findertips is very important. Remember, accountants work year-round not just between January - April. In fact most accountants and CPAs are busier in the off-tax season months helping clients SAVE MONEY, Tax plan, strategic planning and more! Ours is always on speed dial ;-)
Having a good command of the english language is not only important verbally but also in the written word. That brings me to the subject of spelling and how important it is to check it BEFORE submitting a press release. Misspelled words will make your credibility come into question—especially if you’re an author. One might wonder if your book is also filled with typos and other grammatical errors.
OK, so here’s a made up press release with some of the most commonly misspelled words. How many did you find?
***The first person who correctly guesses the number of misspelled words will win a free copy of my BAMedia Contacts Directory.*** (Cut and paste press release in email with misspelled words highlighted in bold. Submit by December 15 to beverly@talk2bev.com ).
New Car Dealership Comes to the Triangle
Congradulations to Taylor’s Automotive for finding a location in Raleigh to set up they’re new automobile dealership. The Mayor says, “It is a priviledge to have such a fine business here. Their the epitomy of what automobile companies should be like.”
Andy Taylor, owner of Taylor’s Automotive says the location came highly reccomended to him by people in the community. “We initially thought being next to a cemetary would be disasterous for our business but that’s not the case at all. We don’t think we will loose any business by being in this location.”
To celebrate they’re grand opening, Taylor Automotive will be inviting the general public in for a pig pickin’ complete with all the fixins’ including marshmellows. “We don’t want to embarass anybody by doing this. We just figured that since we’re in the south, it’s our perogrative to do what we want to make future customers feel welcome.”

Know God Know Peace
No God, No Peace
You shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace:
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Isaiah 58:12
I don’t know about you but that sounds soooo good, refreshing and rejuvenating.
In my earlier years of marriage I may have desired to win the creative, intense fellowship
(argument) (smile).
I had more energy to exert and my mind was just a little bit clearer. It seemed that I didn’t understand
the value of a peaceful environment.
When a value is not placed on a thing you tend to abuse it. You also don’t guard it to make sure that
it is healthy.
Well ladies I learned that I would rather have my peace than to live in an environment of strife and discord (which God hates) more than winning any battles that will take it away.
I look at it like this, more evenings with my husband and family makes me rich. Rich in the creation of positive memories. Rich in increased vitality and health to my bones because I am notsetting myself up to become resentful and/or bitter and rich because myenvironment is peaceful allowing me to create and receive insights andrevelation from my Father God through Holy Spirit as I’m in Hispresence cultivated by a peaceful environment.
I truly believe that it allows for activation of His word that states that He teaches us to profit and He gives us witty ideas andinventions. Peace can open the lines of His Divine intervention.
Strive for a peaceable life and you will realize a Rich life!
Empowering you,

Challenging your current Mindset regarding "WEALTH and Money"
I want to challenge your current idea of Wealth and money by offering that they are not the same thing. Where money is a tool used to exchange servicesor goods or a way we move wealth around, idea of wealth is asintangible as love and hate. It involves our perception of life and in essence the freedom we desireto have within our lives. For many of us that includes possessions thatmake living life easier (a workable car, a nice clean home, ability totravel, good health, healthy children, technology, the internet, ipods, etc) Wealth can take different forms for different people example,Some sections of this country and other countries create entire -microeconomies by living off a barter system. People simply barter wealthwith each other and don’t use money. They live what they perceive astotally wealthy lives and are able to pass that wealth down to theirchildren.
Alone money isn’t valuable. Money is only valuable when it can be attached
tosomething that is perceived to be valuable to the other person. Moneymakes it easy to trade wealth as it creates a even playing field toexchange wealth - If I need surgery, I cannot offer a doctor something Ifind wealthy in exchange for his work, but if I gave him money, thatwas equal in value, he could take that money and exchange it forsomething he finds valuable and wealthy for him (a Bentley perhaps? )Because we can trade wealth by using money we begin to define wealth asbeing able to make as much money as possible.
Why do some businesses succeed and others fail ? How are some of us able to
create $100 mill corporations, and live a life of “wealth” that we pass on to our children. How is that making money is very easy to do but keeping it and using it in a way to build wealth is very difficult for some?

Today I wrote on my website about the current TAX AMNESTY program taking place in Washington, DC and how residents there can take advantage of it. Not sure what a Tax Amnesty is? Basically it's when your states department of revenue either reduces or completely eliminates penalties and fines incurred when you failed to file and pay your taxes. States do this as a way to bring citizens in compliance as well as to raise revenue (DC expects to raise $20 million from their program)
How do they raise money? Simple, oftentimes what may stop you from paying taxes once you realize you owe is the penalties and fines imposed and the high cost of hiring a tax firm to help negotiate a lower rate is a hefty expense as well. The government has to spend money hiring auditors, initiating garnishments, and the sort. When many states are faced with tight budgets and low revenues, offering a Tax Amnesty to abate outstanding tax penalties is the answer they need.

One of my favorite websites for business and entrepreneurship is Inc.com (if you haven't been to this site and you're in business check it out!) Today I got the perfect I mean PERFECT alert regarding business and taxes and I want to share with you the highlights!
The article discusses planning for the next tax season now by being PROACTIVE. In essence, what this means is not waiting UNTIL January 2011 or April 14th for that matter to giving attention to your businesses finances. It means taking small steps through out the year to manage and organize your books, ask questions to your Tax Preparer or Tax Advisors, knowing and understanding the new tax law changes and how they affect your business today and so on. Several tax professionals offer their advice and tips on this and have formulated it into an acroymn: P.L.A.N.
P. Preparing your Records
L. Listing Issues and Questions
A. Analyizing for Accuracy
N. Noting Changes in Tax Laws
Do you P.L.A.N for your taxes? As a Bookkeeper and Small Business consultant, I realize that most if not ALL of these steps can be time consuming or frustrating when you don't know where to begin. Especially noting changes in Tax Laws. Unless you're like me and receive IRS updates and alerts daily most businesses find navigating through the text to find relevant information they can apply today elusive, confusing and just a waste of precious money producing time. I get it!
Some small businesses do hire Bookkeepers to take on this task which is highly recommended, but small businesses are made up of roughly 78% Micro businesses who most simply cannot afford to do this! While I LOVE this article, it does very little in directing business owners on where to begin to Plan for tax time. I consult with or talk to many business owners weekly who have this very issue, "where do I begin, and where do I find the time, how can I afford a bookkeeper?" When you don't feel you can afford a bookkeeper, what do you do?
No this isn't a sales pitch, but there are ways you can get the help of a qualified bookkeeper to get your records and books in order before tax time. Some will help you and provide you with tools if you choose to do it yourself completely free or for a nominal monthly fee. Depending on your budget you may be able to afford an outsourced bookkeeper to help you manage your books. Affordable BOOKKEEPING for your business DOES EXIST if you know where to look! I urge all businesses micro or small to take the time to consult a Bookkeeper at the minimum or CPA to request a review of your books and recommendations for how to P.L.A.N. for tax time. In my blog about Proactive Accounting, I talk about how planning in advance can actually SAVE you money at tax time, and save your business!
Take the time to call your local bookkeeper or CPA, invest a couple hundred dollars and request a review, be Proactive about your business! If you are having difficulty in finding a bookkeeper, give me a call, inbox me. Even better become a fan of YourSimple Bookkeeper, Inc. on Facebook and I'll put you on my priority list for the launch of my YourSimple Bookkeeper -in-a-Box Download on Effective Recordkeeping which is available for Free download Tuesday July 6th (and forever and ever and ever after that)! Information is free in my mind.
Remember: Making Money is EASY, Keeping it is where the Challenge comes.

It's already been stated that one critical thing to your breakthrough is to make the right mindset shifts.
Andone of those shifts is a shift to a success mindset. I've sharedessential keys to mindset breakthroughs, the importance of a successmindset and today I want to share one of the hindrances to a successmindset. One hindrance is that of not being aware of fatal distractionsand being overcome by fatal distractions.
One hindrance to a success mindset is that of not being aware of fatal distractions and being overcome by fatal distractions.
The following are the definitions as found in the dictionary.
Fatal: a: causing death b: bringing ruin c: causing failure
Distraction: a: the act of distracting or the state of being distracted; especially: mental confusion
Wecould say that it represents bringing ruin to our mental focus. Anotherway to look at it is causing death and mental confusion with regard toa desired outcome, destination, etc.
Let's move on and I'd like to present another view of fatal distraction.
Onetypo, two typos, three typos, four? This was the pattern that followedas I continued to read. It was a good book, something that wouldbenefit my spirit man tremendously. I felt like I was being lifted, challenged, restored and then it happened.... The power of the readingwas diluted and my attention was drawn to the errors. I'm not sayingthis to draw attention to the errors found in books or other readingsas now you may look for errors in this article. (smile).
When Isaw the first one it wasn't a big deal, then the second one and I saidto myself wow two on one page. I turned the page and saw yet anotherand actually stopped to make sure the error was there.
What wasthis? Why am I so interested in the errors that are here? It wasn't theerrors I was interested in it was a fatal distraction. The word fatalmeans "causing or ending in death." There is definite opposition to oursuccess and the goal to make sure that we die spiritually and/orphysically. You will be presented with distractions the bottom line isthat many are meant to be fatal. It took me sometime to stop what I wasdoing to refresh myself with devotion, devotion that would give lifeand refresh my vision.
Watch out for fatal distractions. Don'tlet distractions break your focus or intercept your endeavor to makemindset shifts. Being consumed by fatal distractions can send negativeenergy to your subconscious mind.
Maybe you're trying to getclear on your goals, vision and purpose you must do whatever is neededto overcome the fatal distractions that will come. Defuse the power ofthe opposition to your endeavours.
When you pray turn off theringer on the phone if you must. Have devotions at the time of daywhere there is the least traffic going through your home.
Howmany fatal distractions have you been presented with? Is Father Godtrying to get you to the next level and can't because you aredistracted by altercations that seem to occur often? Is He trying towarn you of your lack of spiritual development but you are beingdistracted by your commitment to your job and the promotion that mayfinally be realized? Maybe there is a witty idea and invention that istrying to be made available to you and yet you are more focused onanother situation. Block the distraction! Press in, stay close, anddraw nigh to Father God. Realize a mindset shift to success by beingaware of and overcoming fatal distractions.
Are you dealing with dis-empowering behaviours? Want to unstop the blockage to your empowering success?
Maybeyou'd like to remove the emotional baggage, phobias, and toxicbehaviors from your life. Are you afraid that you will succumb to yournegative thoughts and self talk? I know you long to be free to live themost delicious abundant life available to you. Did you know that toxicbehavior and thoughts can also induce unhealthy habits, weight gain andchronic illnesses. These behaviors are at the root of your lack ofpersonal, spiritual and business success.

fatal distractions?
Maplewood, NJ February 2010-On Tuesday February 9, 2010 Ms. Boss Academy whichis a collaboration between Ms. Boss International and My SistahzKeeper held a small ceremony for Zoey Wiggins who was the first personto graduate from the pilot entrepreneurship program. Zoey attends MySistahz Keeper in Jersey
City, New Jersey through the AWEP/CWEP program for women who are onpublic assistance. There were 13other women who also attended the program and who were enrolled in Ms.Boss Academy, but only Zoeycompleted the 8 week business start-up program. Thewomen who are also on public assistance dropped out of theentrepreneurship program for a variety of reasons. The program walkedZoey through the basics of starting a business right up to creating apresence on the Internet bysetting up a website.
By some standards some may view the entrepreneurship program as a failure because only oneperson graduated, but to Audrey Bell-Kearney who is the CEO of Ms. Boss International andthe creator of the Ms. Boss Academy program she views that one graduateas a success. She states that you have to understand the population thatyou are working with. The goal here is tohelp these women learn how to become self-sufficient so that publicassistance is no longer needed. By helping one person learn how to startand run their own business successfully, this will open updoors of employment for others. Small businesses fuel the economy andright not that economy needs some fuel with thenational unemployment rate around 10%. Kiwan Fitch who is the ExecutiveDirector of My Sistahz Keeper has gone a step further by turning one ofthe office spaces inside the My SistahzKeepers headquarters into a small business incubator for the graduatesof Ms.Boss Academy. Kiwan who is one of the co-founders of My Sistahz Keeper anon-profit organization understandsthat small businesses need to be nurtured so that they can grow. This iswhyshe has opened up another door for these women offering them the spaceso that they can stay connectedto positive people who have goals and dreams that they want to see cometrue. To keep the graduates connected there will be ongoing mentoringfrom Audrey and also from Stephanie Wilson who is theProgram Director at My Sistahz Keeper. Zoey who has only been anentrepreneur for about two months already understandfrom going through the Ms. Boss Academy program how important mentorsare that is why she has stepped up to be amentor with GEN (Gurls Empowerment Network) another program offered byMySistazh Keeper for teenage girls.
The next Ms. Boss Academy is scheduled to start on March 2, 2010. Audrey who created thecurriculum andfacilitates the program hopes that more women take advantage of theprogram this time, but if they don’t as long as we can graduate at leastone the program is still a success.
To find out more aboutthe Ms. Boss Academy contact Audrey at 888-229-1238 or email her at Audrey@msboss.net.
