What are we selling?

Greetings everyone!

My introduction and understanding of legal marketing came from a criminal defense attorney who took a risk hiring someone with no legal marketing background.

The first question he asked me on my first day was, “What are we selling?” I had not a clue. I told him legal services and then he said. “Hell, I went to school seven plus years for people to already understand that.”

The mood in his office was serious, he was not laughing. Then calmly he stood up, motioned me with his right arm and said, “Come walk with me.” We ventured just outside the office door and then he asked me to tell him the exact number of solo lawyers on this block alone. Didn’t know what to say, I saw six, but he made me feel like it was a trick question. His demeanor was stern and all I could see was his eyebrows extending towards me as if there was static in his brows. I just wanted to take a dryer sheet to his brows. I finally told him six. There are six firms on this block alone. He explained, “We each have a law degree and are members of the Bar association and are qualified to practice law. What sets each of us apart is our ability to generate confidence from the community and the public in general. Some of us are able to and others are not, just as any business. What we are selling is confidence."

He asked did I have any questions, passed me a book on guerrilla marketing and told me to read the first three chapters and tomorrow we would discuss them. Out of everything he taught me over four years, that day was the most important. When you are asked what are you selling? Whether you sell a product or service remember you are really selling confidence.

It is always a blessing to share, Dream your World!

Hey HEY HEY!!

So I decided to finally cut the fabric I posted on my blog months ago and came up with this. I cut out Albert and Bucky out and appliqued them to the front of this black cotton twill tote. The straps are longer than my usual straps and have a drop of 14 inches. This tote fits comfortable over your arm and hangs close to your hip. I am digging this bag so much, I don't think I want sell it, but my husband says I have to...Michaelawww.mylasbags.comwww.mylasbags.ecrater.com

WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND?

What's On Your Mind? But be transformed by the renewing of your mind.--Romans 12:2Your mind--the way you think--has a lot to do with the quality of yourlife. Proverbs 23:7 says: For as he thinks in his heart so is he. What you keepyour mind on will determine whether you will be at peace or whether you will befull of anxiety in this troubled world.Philippians 4:6-8 tell us:Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, withthanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, [If you do what this versesays, then the next verse will come into play.] And the peace of God, whichsurpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through ChristJesus. [And the way you keep from being anxious for nothing is by doing whatverse 8 says.] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things arenoble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things arelovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if thereis anything praiseworthy - meditate [constantly think] on these things. So, what are you thinking about? The word think means "to consider, reflect, reason and ponder." What we think is what we become. Where we have kept ourminds is where we are. Our thoughts shape our behavior. In other words, what wedo is what we think. William Barkley, a Christian writer, says: "It is a law oflife that if a man thinks on something often enough and long enough, he willcome to the stage when he cannot stop thinking about it. His thoughts will bequite literally in a groove out of which he cannot jerk them." How many peoplehave gotten into bad situations because they just kept thinking and thinking andthinking about it until they found themselves in a mess. What are you thinkingabout? Are you thinking righteous or unrighteous thoughts? Are you thinking:(1) about the flesh and its lusts? Are you thinking about gratifying the fleshthrough such things as pride, self, greed, pleasure, sex, angry exchanges, jealousies, envies, desires, and negative attitudes?(2) about the lusts of the eyes through such things as immoral pornographicfilth flaunted in magazines, films, books, television, and clothes that revealtoo much of the body in a vulgar way?(3) about the desire for recognition, honor, position, and power? It is okay towant to be recognized, but not to the extent that you will do anything forrecognition, to the extent of committing a sin or hurting someone in to get whatyou want.A mind fixated on the world system and the flesh is what leads to anxiety, worry, emptiness, and restlessness.Colossians 3:1-2 tells us:If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, whereChrist is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, noton things on the earth.Setting your mind on things above means setting your mind on the things of God,and you find out about the things of God from His Word. You have to take controlof your mind and make it do what it should do by a determination of yourwill. Your will is in the mind area.Romans 12:1-2 tell us what to do with our minds and with our flesh.I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present yourbody a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your reasonableservice. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing ofyour mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect willof God.I know we can renew our minds, but we have to be forever thinking about God andHis great love for mankind. Because if you don't, you will think more in linewith the world than with the things of God. You have to understand that the bodyalways wants to gratify the flesh. You have to train the body, make it do whatyour spirit wants, kill it, sacrifice it. And sacrifice is not fun, but it isthe joy of the Lord you want.Ephesians 4:21-24 tells us to be renewed in the spirit of our mind. It is ourresponsibility to do something about our minds. Once a person has been convertedand becomes a new man, he is to focus his thoughts on God, as well as the goodthings of life. We, as Believers, should never dwell on immoral, fleshly, worldly, selfish, sinful or evil thoughts. Sinful and negative thoughts disruptand destroy our peace. The mind always goes down to the level of the flesh, butwe have to control it because we live in the flesh and that is the thing wegravitate to. And that is why we need to operate in the Word of God in order tocontrol our thinking, which will control our flesh.

The Warning Signs

In this journey called “life”, God has provided landmarks and signs to help us reach our destination. There are signs of right and wrong directions; we see dead-end and wrong turn symbols, detours, and yield and stops signs that tell us where we are, where we have been, and where we are going. Are we paying attention?Suffering is inevitable, and as we continue our life on earth, we will encounter sadness or a loss of some kind. The tragedies and negative events we experience in life can either cripple our future or make us strong. There are ranges of active and undergoing changes, which may cause one to lose his way in life. A simple missing or making of a wrong turn, following the wrong directions, a failure to read the road signs, or just simply having insufficient information regarding the destination could all lead to one thing—not arriving at the expected end or at the appointed time.Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has an expected end for each of us. Despite the low points and rock bottom seasons we undergo, instead of blaming the Lord for the layout or pattern of the journey, we should take responsibility for the decisions we make and resist the opportunity for blaming others for where we are.Even the sailor knows that someday he will face turbulent weather. It is his responsibility to train and exercise caution and to know the warning signs. Likewise, the designated driver is also responsible for knowing and reviewing the course of his journey. But failure to recognize or obey the signs of the road could lead to fatal or regrettable consequences. When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, we are very much like the designated driver or sailor. We are given the keys to life and a road map called the Bible. During the course, we learn to recognize the various signs of the road and explore unfamiliar territory, but we are also subject to hazardous conditions, unpredictable weather, and the various changes of the speed limit.Failure to comply with the rules of our spiritual journey will often times take us off course, which will lead us to physical and spiritual dead-ends or somewhere in a back alley. Impatience, disobedience, ignorance, and self-will are the acts that hinder us from attaining our goals. Are we paying attention?Tilt your heart towards the SON!Pastor Narda GoodsonFirst Lady of Whitewright, TexasOfficial Website: http://anointedarrowsproductions.org\Social Network: http://christianwomenpredestinedbygod.ning.com/Copyright 2008 Gospel "PiLLs". The Truth About "Tomorrow"

We have a very close and dear friend of ours who every year as weapproach the New Year talks about how that upcoming year is "goingto be the very best year of his life."Yet, every year for the last few years, within the first 3 months, those "dreams" are long forgotten and he is in a "survival" modeand doing nothing on a daily basis to have "the very best year hehas ever had."The very best diets almost always start "Tomorrow".The very best exercise programs always start "Tommorow"."Tomorrow" is the day you begin to build your real estate fortune. The biggest robber of dreams and a life you have always wanted tolive is simply what you are planning to do..."Tomorrow".The miracle that you seek to have lies in what you do TODAY, notwhat you plan to do "Tomorrow".The truth is that Tomorrow is not promised to any one of us and ourlife story is being written day by day by what actions we aretaking today, right now.Time sure is a vapor. It moves so fast.I cannot believe that I am already in my 40's when it seemed likejust yesterday that I was in my 20's and could not even imaginewhat I would be like in my 30's!Now more than ever, I feel a sense of living a life of purpose andone that has meaning.I really do not want to wake up one day and say, "Where did my lifego?"Some men fear failure.I fear living a life unfulfilled. One that was filled with all these "great things" I was going to do"Tomorrow".Every day is precious to me and one that I value because I nowrealize how fast the "ride of life" goes!Do not put off to Tomorrow what you can do today!Be proactive right now and take a step towards a goal you have. There is a gentleman who lives on the east coast that communicateswith me about once every 6 months about how he is going to orderour program in the next few months, "as soon as he re-arranges somethings in his life."Guess what happens like clockwork?Another 6 months passes and I receive another communication fromthis gentleman. If you are waiting for the perfect time to do anything in your lifethat has value and meaning let me clue you in right here and now,"The time will never be just right and perfect for you."Ever.Some of you reading this email right now made a commitment to orderour course 30 days ago and here we are 30 days later and you arenow faced with an entirely new set of challenges.Listen, changing your life never really is easy but it isworthwhile and it starts with making a decision TODAY and takingACTION TODAY towards your goal.Do something right now to impact your life.Do something TODAY to change your lifeYou'll be glad you did!Truly caring for your success!TC and Vickie Bradley~).

Putting myself back on the list!

I watch Oprah a few weeks ago and one thing I remember her saying she was “putting her self back on her to do list”. I got so caught up in building a business, developing a new marriage, that I put myself on the bottom of the list. I quit exercise, stop preparing healthier meals and started eating fast food! Because I stop taking care of me I gain over 30 pound (WOW) just to say that is painful but I am not ashamed! Before the New Year had begun I started getting back in the grove of exercising and taking steps to eating better.I am putting myself first on my two do list. I get up in the morning and I go to God before I do anything. Through prayer, reading the bible, listen to great biblical teaching on God word, it has help me for two weeks to maintain my exercising routine and today I started running! WOW I thank God for the will and the strength to get my health were it should be both spiritually and naturally. My personal scripture for the yearZechariah 4:6:6Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, “This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, `Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the LORD of hosts.Make 2009 your year!Sheyawww.naturallynurturingbeauty.com/blog

Change is Inevitable

Just as the caterpillar is predestined to transform into a butterfly, so are we preordained to become the children of God (John 3:16).Like the seasons, they come and go. Do you understand that just as winter, spring, summer, and fall all work together to bring about the major transformation of the earth, likewise, the seasons we experience are relevant to our life’s progress? Let’s look at the season we know as winter.Winter is one of the four temperate seasons of the year. It is the season with the shortest days and the lowest temperatures. Winter brings about such a major change that even the animals have developed different behavioral acclimatizations in order to survive the harshness of the season. The tilting of the earth’s axis is what causes the seasons, and because the axis is angled, different parts of our world are slanting or leaning towards the Sun at different times of the year. Some use winter to suggest death or the absence of hope. Although the passing seasons change the moods and habits of people, winter has adopted the nickname “winter blues” to describe the severest cases of depression often experienced by many during this cold and bleak season.Annual plants die while others become dormant. Few plants bloom and barren trees are visible. Food is scarce and migration, hibernation, resistance, and camouflaging become the lifestyle of many earthly inhabitants.Have you ever faced a spiritual winter? Spiritual winter is the time in your life when it seems as if God has shut the heavens and your prayers reach as far as the your bedroom ceiling. It is a season when you experience loneliness and battle against depression. The sun doesn’t shine much and the darkness seems to linger longer than you wish. You feel forsakened and forgotten. You wonder and even ask God if He has overlooked you. You are weary from the cold, grueling, and testing journey, yet day after day, you look to see signs of life only to find none.Even Jesus encountered a wintry season. When hanging on the cross, the Father looked away as the sin of the world lay on His shoulders. Jesus felt a moment of separation from His Heavenly Father that felt like an eternity. He cried, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” meaning, My God, my God, why has thou forsakened me? Matt. 27:46When we face our wintry season, we need not be dismayed. We have Seeds of Life hidden in our hearts that will nourish, fill, and sustain us even when it seems as if all hope is gone. Let the Word of God be the sustaining force that shelters you through the long and challenging days of your wintry season.Tilt your heart towards the Son.Pastor Narda GoodsonFirst Lady of Whitewright, TexasOfficial Website: http://anointedarrowsproductions.orgSocial Network: http://christianwomenpredestinedbygod.ning.com/

Have a Plan for Promoting Your Business

In a tough economy like this it's critical for small business owners like us to have a "promotional plan." The only way your business will stand out from the competition is if you purposefully work at raising the profile of your company. The only way you will do that consistently is with a plan. Here are some quick "affordable" tips:1. First, make sure you have a marketing plan that indicates who your target market is, what you unique selling point is (the advantages of your firm over the competition) and the kinds of tactics you want to employ to raise your profile (those tactics might include some or all of the following points). Also include a timeline in your plan and measurements that you'll employ to determine if what you're doing is actually working!2. Launch a media relations campaign since that's the best free exposure that you can get. Generate a list of media that your target market reads/follows; include in that list the names of the reporters/editors/producers who cover your particular issue at various media outlets - from newspapers, to radio and TV programs, to magazines.3. Do some research and identify the top 5 business/web 2.0 networks where your clients are likely to be found...then JOIN and participate in discussion in those networks. Make sure you offer helpful, useful information and not just promotions about your service or product. If you hate it when you get bombarded with someone's promo for their business, trust me others (like me) will hate it too. So don't do it. Be giving, supportive and savvy with your business and your time. There are many more tips that I can offer, but those are a few to start off a discussion on this topic for now.Have a great day ladies!Sharon

A RENEWED MIND.,.

A Renewed Mind"Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man whichwas created according to God" Ephesians 4:23-24a.If anything has become evident this past year, it is that we cannot continue todo what we've always done and expect things to change for the better in ourlives. The jobs, people and systems that we've come to place our trust in haveproven themselves insufficient, and as a result, many of us have come to acrossroads in our lives. We've come to a place in our journey where we cannot afford to take another stepbackwards due to a bad decision, nor waste any more time on that which isunproductive in our lives.I know it may not seem like it, but in the midst of all of this bad news, Godhas really positioned us, if we make the necessary adjustments in our lives, tonever have to circle this mountain again. Do I have your attention? I hope so,because I believe that God is using this trouble to change or transform ourminds. Let me explain.God has shaken everything that has proudly exalted itself as being sufficient ora "source", exposing it as being only an illusion. Governments, institutions andpeople that once proclaimed themselves as being trustworthy have foundthemselves in need of help.To make it in this season of history, we are going to have to think differentlyand on a higher level to overcome the gravitational pull of our fallen economyand society. Romans 12:2 warns us, "do not be conformed to this world, but betransformed by the renewing of your mind" and Ephesians 4:23 states, "be renewedin the spirit of your mind". To "be conformed", means to be "patterned after" orto "think like". To avoid the fate that this world's system is suffering, wecannot continue to think and operate like the world. Our minds must be renewed. The word "re" indicates that there was a former "state of mind" or "being" thatis to be pursued. In Genesis 1:26, the bible declares that we were created inthe image and "likeness" of God. The root word for "likeness" in the Hebrew istranslated, "to think like". We were given the ability to think creatively likeGod and to cause our thoughts to become things. The only limitation of acreative mind is its imagination. Creators never run out of substance or sufferlack because they do not depend upon anything external for them to beproductive.I believe the shaking that we are experiencing today is designed to awakenbelievers, who have become sedated by the world's system, to cause them toconsider who and what they've placed their trust in. God gave us the ability toknow His mind and thoughts (1 Cor. 2:10-16) so that we would not be confined orlimited by what the world says we can have or do. Because we've beenindoctrinated through education to embrace conformity and not our creativity, many believers are unnecessarily suffering lack that are pregnant with ideaswaiting to be birthed, that could provide for their generations. What creative ideas, innovations, inventions and projects has God placed withinyou that are waiting to be manifested? These creative "thoughts" are the"things" God has given you to overcome what is overcoming the rest of theworld. However, this will require you to renew your mind and know that God isyour Source and everything else is a resource!

Michelle Obama Inauguration Makeup

Wow! Get Excited! I had to post Michelle Obama Inauguration makeup created by Ingrid Grimes-Myles...
"Mrs. Obama's look is not not an avant-garde look. It's not a fashionista or Vogue -spread type of thing. 'It's a professional woman look," said the stylelist. "We want her to be read very natural and polished," said Ingrid Grimes-Myles, Michelle Obama's friend and makeup artist who created her Inauguration day look with black liner, natural makeup and nude lips. Though Michelle does not endorse any beauty brands, Grimes-Myles let it slip in a Chicago Tribune interview that Michelle's oft-admired lip color is a variety of M.A.C. lip pencils-one darker, one light-plus lipstick and gloss, which Grimes-Myles custom-mixes. She goes easy on the blush for Obama and all women of color, preferring to contour and shade the face. "For women of color, they don't really blush," Grimes-Myles said. "You should [add] blush where you naturally blush." For the brows, she employs Tweezerman tweezers and a combination of brow powders and pencils. Until next time...feel free to leave a comment.

Without Courage, WISDOM bears no fruit

Life is too long to live in fear of the past repeating itself, in this fortnights newsletter I wanted to share a personal experience with you."Without courage, wisdom bears no fruit." Baltasar GracianLast week, I spoke at an open mic for the first time.. Even though I'm a public speaker, and I've spoken in front of hundreds this wasn't something I thought I would do. I wanted to share and release the painful buried memories that no one had yet heard, things I would have rather forgotten. As a speaker, your past mess is your powerful message so courage is essential. When you open your life up, you allow people to judge you based on your past but without opening up, it is difficult to find the message. As I stood up there, I was shaking with nervousness but the freedom I felt at the end of my talk was one of the most elevating emotions I have ever felt. My story touched people, let them see their lessons and gave me the courage to continue sharing.Like many people, I moved through life, repeating the same painful cycles but never becoming any wiser. We become wise as a result of our past experience only when we are courageous. We can all be an inspiration to others by being not just what we do, but who we really are."Wisdom is what happens when we let go of the pain and retain the lesson." (Sophia Bailey)If you have truly learnt something, don't let pain stop you from being an inspiration. When we begin to release the pain, the lesson becomes clear and the more courageously you can do this, the freer you will become. What did you experience that made you wiser?I am currently working on a compilation of wisdom quotes with my children as they are full of wise words and often cause me to stop and think. This one from my daughter Cleopatra (aged twelve) reminds us to make a start, however small"It is the small steps that lead you to victory. Just because they are small doesn't mean they are insignificant, it just means you are too big to see them." Anyway I just wanted to thank you for sharing your poem and I hope you share some more of your work soon."Take care, God blessCherelle xxThere is Nothing Wrong with Being Wealthy from Entrepreneurial ActivitiesBy Lance WinslowSometimes people complain about wealthy folks and entrepreneurs and demand that they re-distribute their wealth. Live a life of Self-care

What is a Self Caring Lifestyle?Self Care is exactly what it sounds like. It is the caring for self. It's not being selfish. It's being aware of the fact that you can't give what you don't have. I put all my time and effort into my children and my family that I took no time to just work on me. It's a journey not to go back, but well worth it. When you are being your best then you can give your best. Self care emcompases the Mind, Body, and Spirit. When you choose to take part in activities that nurture, renew and fortify all three of these elements of self, than you are not only practicing but living a Self Caring Lifestyle.
