Wedding Invitation Do's and Don'ts

Do make your own invitations if you have the time and are looking for areas to cut costs. With do-it-yourself invitations you are not limited to what the stationer has to offer and you have complete creative control over the paper, fonts, colors and embellishments. You can buy blank stationary and design your invitation from scratch, or you can purchase a wedding invitation kit. If you do not have access to a high quality printer you can still save money by designing your own invitation and taking your design to a local copy center to be printed.

Don’t use your new monogram on your invitations or any other pre-wedding stationary or decorations. Save your married monogram for post-wedding activities like the reception and thank-you cards.

Don’t print “adult reception”, “adults only” or any other variation on your invitation. The way you address the invitation should make it clear who is and who is not invited to the wedding.

Do print the dress code on the invitation if it is a formal affair (i.e. black tie, black tie optional, etc.)

Don’t include registry information on your invitation or any of the insert cards. Registry information should only be included in the bridal shower invitation and spread by word of mouth by your family and the bridal party.

Do address the envelopes prior to inserting the invitations to avoid indentations or ink marks on the invitation.

Don’t worry about hand writing the addresses on the envelopes. Traditionally, all addresses were hand written, however some modern couples are opting to have the addresses printed directly onto the envelopes to cut costs and save time.

Do visit www.usps.com and browse through their inventory of stamps to find a stamp that fits your wedding style and theme.

Do call guests if you have not received a response by the deadline. Don’t automatically assume that they are not coming, they may have simply forgotten to send back the response card.

Natural Remedies for Acne and Facial Blemishes

Many individuals have suffered from acne at one time or another in their lives. It may lessen or worsen with the seasons, diet or with hormonal changes in the body. While it is not a
life-threatening condition, many who deal with acne may feel a loss of self-esteem, especially if the acne is severe or leaves behind scarring. The acne may also be painfully inflamed or sore.

Certainly, the shelves are full of medications especially formulated for the elimination of acne, but these medications may cause dry, flaky skin and may also aggravate the condition. Therefore, natural cures for acne may be the first line of defense because they can be less harsh on the
skin.

Mix equal parts of fresh lime juice and milk and use a cloth or cotton ball to apply the resulting mixture to the inflamed areas. Let sit for 15-20 minutes, then rinse clean.

Yogurt and oatmeal make a wonderful acne healing mask for the face. The yogurt’s lactic acid content can serve to soothe the skin, reducing inflammation and cleansing pores. Oatmeal can
soothe irritation and reduce inflammation also. Mix plain yogurt with enough finely ground oatmeal to make a paste. Apply the mask to a clean, dry face and let sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse gently with warm water and pat dry. If necessary, apply a light oil such as olive or sunflower oil to moisturize your face.

Ripe tomatoes are a natural astringent for the face and are great for oily skin. Simply cut a ripe tomato in half and apply to the acne areas. Leave the juice for about 20 minutes, then rinse
clean. You may also use tomato paste for easier application.

Please remember to do a skin patch test before applying any of these recipes to your skin and/or face.

To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty ,but also of compassion, sacrafice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst,it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those time and places where people have behaved magnificiently, this gives us energy to act,and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.and if we do act,in however small way,we dont have to wait for some grand utopian future .the future is a infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live,in defiance of all that is bad around us,is itself a marvelous victory

recycle_your_blog_posts Everybody is going green, do your part by recycling your blog posts. On a serious note, I recently read this great post on problogger entitled, 5 Tips for Getting Readers Viewing Your Old Blog Posts. As bloggers, we all too often feel pressured to create quality content every single day, when we don't have to. Think about it, how many of your new viewers read that great post you wrote last year? How many people read it the day you posted it? Recycling your posts is a great way to remain consistent and share your best posts with a new audience. Darren added 5 great tips in that problogger post, so I thought I should add a few of my own. Here are a few things that I do to get readers viewing my old blog posts:
  1. I repost my best blog posts in my blogs on favorite social networks, like my network, Black Business Women Online.
  2. When I feel like tweeting @sistasense, but I don't know what to say, I retweet one of my blog posts.
  3. I love love love that facebook allows you to import an RSS feed into your NOTES. I import my blogs RSS Feed, which also gets me more views and more facebook fans!
  4. I always include links and excerpts to blog posts in my newsletters. I recommend iContact if you are looking for a quality, low cost email marketing service.
  5. When I have the time, I do little mini-youtube videos on various topics and tell viewers to visit my website to read more or get more details. Here is a link to my youtube channel: lhenry
Last Tip: Making sure your blog is SEO friendly also helps search engine users find your best posts too! With these few tweeks you can guarantee that your blog is working for you even when you are not! One More Tip: I almost forget this one... when I have a good week chuck FULL of posts, I like to do a Week End Review or Best of SistaSense this month, to give both old and new readers a chance to catch up on all the good stuff! There are so many things you can do to get more people reading your old blog posts. Be creative and if you have great tips, leave them in a comment below. For more blogging tips from me, remember to watch my complete blogging for beginners series and signup for my money and marketing tips on BBWO. I'm in love!

I am in love!

Yes - it's true - I am in love! I've meet this wonderful person. This person is kind, loving, knows me inside and out - my good points - and my not so good points - my past, my present - and knows where I want to be in my future.

This person just loves all of my diva self!

And this person's name is 'Ophelia'!

Yes, I'm in love with me! It is not a prima donna type of love - a love that is selfish or unkind - but a love of who I am - a love of who I was - a love for where I've come from - and a love of where I'm going.

My mother always use to say 'you can't love anyone else - unless you FIRST love yourself'.

I've always, had a good sense of self-esteem - not to much to annoy people (at least I hope not) - but enough to NOT feel like I was less than - because of my size, the colour of my skin - or whatever negative views people had of me - I've always felt that I was a Divine child and a beautiful person.

I was getting rid of some last bits and pieces from my marriage - and as I shredded some documents and photos - I realized that when I got married and during the marriage - I had lost a bit of myself - and had not allowed my light to shine to it's full brilliance with in the marriage.

Part of the reason, the marriage ended - was due to the fact - that I wanted to shine my light - and be my true authentic self - and felt the support was not there for me to do so....In shredding the stuff, I realized there was no hate - or love for my X - just indifference - a warm sense of peace - a feeling of joy for where I now am - an acceptance for that part of my life and the contribution it made to where I am today - and I realized - I was back!

Ophelia is back! I am in love with me! So never - ever - never let anyone - even yourslf - make you feel less than! Look out world here I come!

Namaste,
Ophelia

As you all probably know, I’m one of millions of people with a Facebook. (It’s probably one of the sites I frequent most). And being a professional, I want to be sure my profile on there says, well, professionalism.

Maybe you haven’t thought about it much, but what you put on Facebook and other social networking sites affects how people, especially professionals and potential clients and customers, see you. So, in my opinion anyway, your online profiles should portray you in a good light. Here are some ways to help you can create and/or reinvent your online rep:

  • Use a tasteful profile picture. It’s probably the first thing people see when clicking on your Facebook page, so be sure you are actually in the photo (unless, of course, it’s Doppleganger week or something). Secondly, make sure the picture is tasteful: You on vacation in your swimsuit? Okay. You in your bedroom with sexy lingerie on? Not so much- save that for your significant other or something. And finally, be sure the picture is big enough so people will actually recognize you.

  • More on photos. Watch which ones you post and the ones others tag you in. You shouldn’t have photos of you passed out drunk or of you and that guy making out at a party. One way to decide if your pics are appropriate: Ask yourself if you’d want your grandmother to see it. If not, take it down or untag yourself if it’s not yours.

Check out the other tips here.

Please feel free to share any tips you have below, and happy networking!

An important key to successful online marketing is to keep in mind that, despite what your mother always told you, it really is all about you.In order to rise above the sheer volume, and the noise of the marketplace, youmust find an effective way to communicate to the world–or at least to yourtarget market–what valuable solution you provide.

But in order for the world or your market to get how valuable and just plain awesome you are, you’ve got to believe it yourself. You’ve heard it said countless times that everything is energy. You radiate energythat vibrates at a particular level. If you are confident, secure and full of joy you are radiating at a higher level, and as that famousLaw of Attraction states, you will attract others to you who are vibrating at acompatible level.

Everything you do, and everything you create and put out into the world is totally infused with your energy. Therefore, your clients and customers areeither drawn to your energy or they are not drawn to it. This is important tokeep in mind when you are doing Internet marketing online because if you arenot getting the results you desire, you might take a step back and look at your energy and your vibration.

Are you up and eager and excited, or are you feeling down, desperate and frustrated? You can have the most beautiful, visually appealing website withfabulous copy, but if you are not coming from a place of being confident inyour value, your contribution and your unique gifts that energy will keep yourideal clients away.

Remember that you are the sparkle that draws traffic, customers and clients to you. What are you doing to make your visitors enjoy their visit to yourwebsite or blog? How are you making it fun for your customers and clients to dobusiness with you?

Successful online marketing begins and ends with you. Be radiant. Be passionate, heck, be freaking awesome and take the necessary, consistent, boldaction steps and watch your website begin to sizzle.
