  • I agree. I was also. I still have my accounts but if I had my way I would close them and start over to do it right. I was "SELLING MY PRODUCT" on my social sites and soon found out that I was doing it all wrong. So I stopped and just started talking and making friends. It has proven to be much more effective.
    • I think that is why when we joined social network and on our page we get a lot of spam from people to buy this.
    • I wind up adversting in my home town which is Michigan. I only use the social network to find other business women like me in my area to host events and be a part of advertising their business on T.V. (Which I will start my job assignment next month). I have a whole lot of traffic this way.
  • I think people have a huge misconception of what social networking is in relation to business building. Joining social networks is not a way to "get" customers or make sales, social networks are a tool available to us as a way to share knowledge and engage and interact with others.

When done correctly, YES, utilizing social networking sites can bring you customers and even business partners or associates but thats mostly because those people were able to connect with you and trust what you bring to the table.

In my opinion, social networks work for business when your intentions are to develop and cultivate relationships while sharing your expertise.

    • I must agree to that because a lot people and even some social network I have closed my account because I was getting a lot buy this and I don't know anything about you.
  • Melissa,
You asked a great question! We join social networks for different reasons and joining them doesn't guarantee you will get a swarm of customers! Social networking has helped me in lots of ways...I have met new people and have learned lots of new ways to improve my business-everything from new marketing ideas to how to improve my general business practices. I have picked up new clients as well but more than anything I have really enjoyed learning from the people I meet and increasing my overall knowledge as a woman entreprenuer. We can learn a lot from each other and that has been the biggest benefit I have gained from social networking.

    • I think you hit it right on the nail, I mainly joined social network to find other women who are in the same business type I am in and those who are just starting out like me. I have me a few women as well. It's all about learning from each other.
