In this economy small business owners need to come together and share advice and tips. We're all looking for new ways to market our products and services, so why do we pass on some of that information with each other here.

Also, I forgot to add that for those who place excerpts of their articles in their blogs to further market themselves, I can't tell you how many people forget to enable their thoughts to be spread viraly by having various share buttons on EACH post. We just did this for a successful business writer. Can be done in just a couple of days and at just a few hundred dollars, and voila! Here's what we did... http://www.sellingtobigcompanies.blogs.com/ (see her 6/9/10 entry and descending to see the "tweet this", "digg this", etc) So easy and effective, yet forgotten by so many.. :)
I think if you're going to use articles for marketing it's best to incorporate them almost a build up to them via your social networks so that people begin to anticipate something coming up and you can create pre- 2-way conversations about them. There are a variety of techniques I use surrounding my Huffington Post pieces for my own business and as we consult other small businesses on what to do!
Writing articles and radio are effective ways to spread the word about my books Long Walk Up, Portia, Spiral, Love Has Many Faces and Rosetta's Great Adventure!

I use articles to promote business. I usually get most of my readers from the digital magazines and newsletters I publish. If anyone is interestd in $10 advertising please let me know!!!
My most used marketing technique is networking. For me it's the most effective way to reach my target market and develop relationships that bring more clients. I liken the art of networking to that of planting a seed. You have to water that seed, give it the proper light, and patiently wait for it to grow. Networking is the same way- you meet a person, you stay in contact with that person, you take time to learn what that person needs. In time a relationship will form and you can guarantee yourself that they will one day use your services or products or refer you to someone who will.
We've all heard the saying people do business with people they like and trust, and I'd have to agree with that statement.
Hey Miss Sweet I love this post! I'm all for bringing back some lively Relevant Business conversation in the forum. Alright, here is my most used marketing technique: Article Marketing. I'm a typer not a talker, so I can write until the cows come home *lol*.
