How to get into a niche?

Do you ladies have any advice on how to get into a niche if you're not part of it? For example, unfortunately I have no children ( I have two angel babies). I want to inform moms particularly of my website and my educational toys business. I don't want to be a troll on mom forums because I feel I have nothing to add. Now, I use to be a pre-school teacher and education is very much my passion. I know the struggles of teachers. So should I focus on teachers and preschools as my niche and not the moms? Any advice is welcomed for me particularly and generally for everyone regarding how to enter a niche. Quanisha

  • I think you can target any niche so long as you highlight your strength. Before I started the Black Moms Club, I was working on Mahogany Momma eZine and I wasn't even a momma! lol. I am a mommy now, but at the time I was simply like you - someone who worked in education and wanted to share my info with others. Whether you are a mommy or not, if you have quality information, others will be happy to hear it! Just remember to highlight who you are.... Pre-School Teacher, Educational Background, etc...
    • Thank You. Sometimes I'm self conscious about the mom aspect and I want to be authentic. Although I will be a stepmom soon. I advertise my strengths.

      • Hi Quanisha,

I recently found my niche by looking at my past experiences and watching the trends of today......in other words, you may have a niche but today's trends may make it difficult. I'm a psychologist but the trends of today, debt, the economy and female heads of household - my counseling sessions basically turned into debt management and debt stress management counseling - that is my niche right now. Later when and if the economy gets better - I'll be searching for another niche and or go back to other specific therapy areas.

        Hope this helps you.
