www.artofubuntu.com Launches to promote African art and help communities

A new website has launched which aims to bring African culture and art to the masses. Art Of Ubuntu (www.artofubuntu.com) is a culturally rich website developed by proud South African, Nomvuyiseko. The website is inspired by the African notion of Ubuntu, which means a person becomes an ancestor worthy of respect or veneration, based on how they interact with humanity. It allows consumers to own beautiful, culturally significant works of art from Africa that will enrich their lives, while at the same time helping communities in Africa. Discussing the new website, Nomvuyiseko or Mvuyi (as she is known to her friends) said: “Many African communities are already emerging through increases in economic activity from a variety of industries. We don’t hear enough about the successes in Africa. I would encourage people to embrace the spirit of Ubuntu and the beauty of Africa by proudly displaying these unique works of art, and simultaneously helping African communities.” Mvuyi is a proud South African. She grew up in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape, experiencing life without running water, electricity or shoes on her feet. Even though life was hard, Mvuyi grew up with a sense of pride and purpose. She learned great respect for her elders, the values of tradition and family bonds and that Ubuntu helps you find the right path through life. Mvuyi was lucky however, to have an aunt recognize her potential who encouraged her to seek higher education, giving her a place to stay and access to schools. Mvuyi had to work to fund her education herself. She managed to hold a job and help her aunt to care for a large family. Mvuyi graduated from Nelson Mandela University as a Radiographer. She has since worked in South Africa, Ireland and California, USA. The current chapter of this African Success story is www.artofubuntu.com . The website is divided into three areas: East Africa, West Africa and South Africa. Mvuyi explains: “Many African Americans are aware of their connection to Africa. Even if you have not yet had the chance to trace your roots, you may identify with other successful African Americans. The Obama family have traced their roots to Eastern Africa. Oprah has traced her roots to West Africa. If you are inspired by the great Nelson Mandela, have a look at our South Africa section.” The website has already generated significant interest from art lovers throughout the US with an interest in African culture. Visit www.artofubuntu.com and join in the success and pride of Africa. info@ArtOfUbuntu.com www.artofubuntu.com
