What is remarkable about Nicky's World Productions and it's founder, is the way in which Nick Mares assimilated his knowledge of web production. In the year 2000 Nick Mares found himself homeless and without family. He found inspiration in participating in a now defunct online forum discussing the books written by Carlos Castaneda. One day he read a post by someone claiming to have deliberately thrown away all forms of I.D., and travelled to and from Mexico and the United States to practice the concept of "stalking" as delineated in Dr. Castaneda's books. Nick decided to implement this concept and threw away his own I.D. and passport and travel the country with nothing to lose. Recently there has been a movie about someone who does this and journeys to Alaska named Into the Wild. On his travels Nick was often helped along by others, predominantly those from socio-economically impoverished backgrounds themselves, who could therefore relate to his ordeals. Nick dreamed of someday giving back to these people and their community. Being more computer literate than most of the people he interacted with, Nick began to envision an internet production outlet for their vibrant culture and creativity, using his skills to promote their music and passion as online media. In 2002 Nick donned an empty backpack and strode into a University of Wisconsin campus with nothing. There for six months he assimilated and immersed himself in the knowledge and hands on experimentation required to master his knowledge of web code he began learning as a necessary part of posting images and hyperlinks on that online discussion forum two years previous.
