Many business's are thriving in our community. When they are asked to help the local high school band get new uniforms they won't give two dollars. Should we continue to pump money into business's who don't give back? What is the solution to this problem? In Solidarity, Beverly

  • As we have to keep in mind the daily challenges of operating a business in a community where they are struggling to make their own ends meet, we do have to encourage them to give back. It is important for businesses to not only expect the community to support them but to also show their support for the community. In an example of the high school uniforms, the business should realize that in doing so - not only are they showing how important it is to support the high school but it shows the students that they care. This gesture may bring more business. I believe when you give, give happily and whole heartedly. It's just the right thing to do.

A solution may be to show the incentive in their donation - they give and it will be announced at the event or published in the school's newsletter/paper.
