Calling all authors and authoresses

Is there anyone who has published a book or maybe you're writing a book and planning to publish it. What about self publishers. I am in the process of writing a book and would love to talk to you about what your process is or has been to get your book out to the public. I am thinking of going through one of the many self publishers that are out right now. There are so may POD(print on demand) services out their and the only thing that differentiates them from one another seems to be the price but I know it has to be deeper than that. Let's talk. Maybe we can all collaborate one day on a book tour. How about the Black Business Women Connect book tour. lol. Wishful thinking!

  • I've self published four books to date, at very little cost. I design my own cover, I have my own ISBN # and LOC #. I use lulu and on average pay about $6 per book, slightly lower if I order in bulk. I've also used another POD and ordered 100 books, 5x9, 160 pages for $136. I've considered using other services, but haven't had the time to do so yet. I've attended several author showcases in Dallas, Louisiana and Florida. I split the cost of the table with another author and paid roughly $120 each time. I guess it's all in looking for bargains. My book is targeted to a small niche of people and I've sold about 400 copies per year, give or take, since 2004. I'll be glad to chat further with you re this. I'm not an expert, but I know what works for me :-) My link is http://www.kaliannah.com.
  • Hello from The Risque Cafe. We are hosting a live audition for The Write Stuff. It's a reality television show like American Idol but instead of a singer...it's a search for the next best selling author or poet. Go to my site www.therisquecafe.com for more details. Just click on the picture for the about the reality show and it will lead you to what you need to do. I think this is a great opportunity. Good Luck and hope to see you at one of the auditions.

  • I have written a fiction book, never published it. I am currently working on a how-to guide. I will hope to publish traditionally. In asking around for a literary agent, I was given this link and would like to share it.

Karen Miller self published her first book and from then out used traditional publishing. She shares her experience in the link below.
