The topic of newsletters and email marketing has come up several times this week. Above is a screenshot of APlusSeniorCare.com, one of my web clients. They are relaunching their newsletter, so this past week I created a publisher template for them with a branded look and feel to match their website. Interestingly enough during one of the last SistaSense Circle Weekly Calls, someone essentially asked if Newsletters were dead? Not seeing much response from all her hard work maintaining her newsletter she contemplated if it was worth keeping it alive. Social Media Marketing is the buzz topic of today, so you will find quite a few people who believe email marketing is no longer an effective form of marketing because quite frankly between spam blockers and information overload, people aren't opening emails like they use to. Even though email marketing is more challenging now than it used to be, I personally think it still has value. Why? I think about subscribers who sometimes say, "If not for your emails, I would have forgotten about you." While you might not see or feel that newsletters get as much attention as blogging and other outlets, I believe their hidden gems because they provide a forum to share consistent quality information with your audience. I can not over emphasize how much of my credibility has been built on the longevity of my success. People want to follow you over time for various reasons and your newsletter is one space they can do that. This week I also updated the header for my web client, Ms. N*Powered. That project also included creating a version of the header to be used in her email newsletter. I am big on branding. When sharing your business content across multiple platforms like newsletters and videos, its always a good idea to make sure your brand style/colors remain consistent. In short, I don't think newsletters are dead. I think your ability to use them effectively depends on consistency, good branding, and quality content.
