I am a work at home mom turned internet marketer. When I started my business I thought that all I had to do was create great products with a great website and everything would fall into place. I quickly realized that my dream wasn’t going to come true if I didn’t learn how to market myself online. You can have the greatest product in the world, but that product won’t make you money without sales.
On my journey to making sales, my first thought was this, “If I want to make sales, I have to promote my website.” In theory, promoting your website to generate sales is the right idea. However, most website owners will find that they either get very few sales or they don’t know how to get people to buy once they visit their website.
Does that problem, sound like one you are having right now? The first revelation as an internet entrepreneur is usually the realization that your website won’t promote itself. In other words, people aren’t going to find it, simply because you built it. That realization leads most entrepreneurs to invest their time or money into internet marketing strategies. The lucky ones make sales, but the majority of them simply find themselves frustrated by the next revelation: not every person who visits your website is going to buy.
Then what’s next? What do you do when the marketing isn’t working and your website isn’t selling itself? Let me tell you what I did. I went back to the drawing board and tried to figure out why people buy. I knew that if I could just figure out why people buy, I could get more of them to buy from me. Sure enough, that solution was the right solution for me. Once I figured out why people buy, I started actually increase my sales.
