Successful Southern Sistas is pleased to present our February Feature Friday interview with the vibrant Tiffany Aliche also known as “The Budgetnista”. Tiffany is the founder of CLD Financial Life LLC, was recently featured in Essence Magazine and just authored an incredible book about financial literacy, The One Week Budget. We had a chance to speak to the very busy and sought after Budgetnista to learn more about her company and how she’s helping people get on the road to financial freedom and a debt free lifestyle.
What was your motivation to start your company and to becoming the Budgetnista?
I started my company because so many of my friends would come to me asking for help with their money. I was always financially savvy, and although I made much less than they did, I always had more. I realized that I was the exception, not the rule when it came to knowledge about personal finance. My company was basically started out of necessity. I just realized that people needed help with their money, and I wanted to help them.
What is the best financial advice you personally have ever received?
If you’re willing to live like no one else now, you’ll be able to live life no one else later. (David Ramsey, a financial literacy author via my oldest sister Karen)
To me this means are you willing to sacrifice your likes and wants, for your needs and loves?
What are you doing to spread the word about your movement?
I post daily $ tips each day on Twitter and Facebook. I’ve started a video series called, The Road to Financial Freedom, and as part of the series I give away free gifts like my Budgetnista Bracelet and a spread sheet called, My Financial Picture. The series can be seen on my YouTube channel, The Budgetnista. I also give away a ton of free financial advice via my site, thebudgetnista.biz. Lastly I’ve written a book called, The One Week Budget that shows readers how to create a money management system in 7 days or less.
What are three action items you could tell a person that is drowning in student loan and/or credit card debt?
I’m sorry, but in order to truly help, I can’t limit myself only three items. Instead here is my Snowball your Debt Plan:
We’ve all seen the cartoon where a tiny snowball at the top of a hill rolls down and becomes bigger and bigger as it races toward the bottom. We are going to use that strategy to pay off our debt. Here’s how…
