I live in New Jersey.  Here the homes are expensive, the property taxes are the highest in the nation, the schools are horrible (for the most part) and it's getting worse. With that said, I've gone from contemplating moving south to putting my house on the market and taking a huge leap of faith.  I've been in New Jersey my entire life but $8,000 in property taxes for a house where my complaining neighbors are a foot away from me just is no longer worth it.

As a single woman, being an entrepreneur means if I fail, my entire household is at risk.  There isn't a husband going to work, so I can be C.E.O and if I don't make any money then oh, well.  I have his income to fall back on.  No, for me I have no choice but to swim, sinking is not an option.  Therefore, adding up the numbers has confirmed my decision to sell and move south to purchase something out right with the profit.

Now, here's the issue.  Leaving the familiar for the unfamiliar territory.  Georgia is a wonderful place to visit once a year but now I'm going to be living there.  For some reason I can not get my heart to follow my mind and say this is it, we're going.  Yes, I'm packing up the house and praying for a quick sale but my heart is longing to stay.  I don't have any family here but one sister who will probably go with me.  My father and his entire family is in the south.

I'm trying to get myself unstuck to loose the equity in my house which I can use for my businesses and rid myself of a mortgage.  Therefore, I'm looking for tips on adjusting to relocating.

  • I would say downsize, if you got to step out on faith, then do just that, but have a plan in place as to what your next steps will be.  You are right you have to swim and make the best decisions for you and your loved ones.  If letting go of your high mortgage and moving down south will free you of some more cashflow, then it's definitely worth trying something different. we all fear the unknown, but where ever you go, take God with you and let him guide you. He'll never let you down.  I'm from the south and the cost of living is way cheaper than the north.

However, I just got the revelation that God has given me many more accomplishments which can't be taken away.  So, I'm getting emotional ready for the transition.
