I spent the entire day looking for information on getting people to buy. it appears that when you make a contact on twitter, facebook, etc. you do a personal chat. sell yourself before the website. by the time you get to the website it will appear more appealing rather than a ploy to shove something at a stranger. I learned that from trial, error and watching others on social groups.
also, I found out that people online are there to share their experience and business and may not care about what you have to sell. I'd say 95% of folks don't want to hear it. But, I see that if you talk about what they talk about they will hear you. they will look at the link near your name, bottom of the email, etc. whatever you do to promote it. They may ask questions or go to the site. I am actually going to put together a Q and A of commonly asked questions. I feel most people are interested in SEO and SEM problem solving. If I give free information, they will listen, then they will buy about 1/8 or less of the time (part time). When I get better at it, I hope to get more sales. Next year I should know what I am doing.
I chose AVON Products because it has a well known name (sells itself in some cases) and it only cost $20 to own a business when signing up online. That is it. Nothing more. No inventory, supplies, etc. They are optional. Then I thought I could put up their cookie cutter website, promote it and collect a few bucks. Not that easy. I just started the www.YourAvon.com/TarynWilliams site about a few weeks ago and already I see where it can be a full time job to just get people interested interest in the address. They do respond to the sales; 3 for 1, and the outlet link for more deals.
This will be a challenge to me because I want to do as much as possible with no money out of pocket. I am looking at blogging on free sites to not promote the company, but to promote me, what I do, my experiences, or valuable things I have to offer. I see where a journal appears interesting to people. It is like a soap opera. They want to know what happened everyday. There will be a link to my website, a place of interested for others who are trying to learn, a morsel of free information weekly, and if the free site permits it then i will try to add affiliates for extra money.
I am also looking into writing on other sites for money. A few cents here and there can add up. I am not trying to get rich. That will take much more work. I am just trying to work my way through school and I need to keep as much money as possible. In the meantime, I am learning a very valuable lesson here. I am learning entrepreneurship, and all the ugly hard work that go along with it. Maybe when I am out of school I will be more valuable than I set out to be. I could be useful in any business I choose, even my own.
Well, one thing I have learned is the more you promote your website and business to those that could benefit from it, you will get more customers. Of course when promoting through social networks, have small conversations with your potential customer/new relationship, as they connect to you, they connect to your business/products.
One of the best ways to promote your website/business is to make sure you know your target. First let me start by congratulating you on being an entrepreneur. You've taken the first step in your journey and the key is linking up with people and businesses to help you grow.

Oh my goodness. I was thinking to myself I know this company's name. This is Stephanie Lewis from Grace Emmanuel. I clicked on this spot because I am having some of the same issues with my e-commerce business. Please check out my site when you get a chance and I will do the same in return. My site is www.stephdesigns.com. Stephanie
One of the simple strategies that I discuss in my eBook, The Easiest Way to Make Your First $1000 Online, is helping your customers find you. Everyday people are online searching and spending money. If your website doesn't appear at the top of their search results, chances are you won't be the person making that sale.
If you want to help customers find you then the first thing you must do is define your ideal customer. Who is that person? What are they looking for online? Where do they shop online? The more you know about them, the easier it becomes for you to create search engine optimized, user friendly websites that are easy for people to find. How does it get easy? When you know your ideal customers you can effectively utilize target marketing strategies. You can:
1. Use the Exact words they use on your website to help boost your visiblity
2. Advertise on Spaces they visit
3. Create Special Offers that cater to their needs
Please don't bash me for what I'm going to say, but I'm just giving my honest opinion based on my observation of your website.
Upon my review of your page, I noticed a few things were missing:
1) FAQ page/Customer Service Page - There isn't a FAQ or Customer Service Page on your site.
You should have a Q & A page which addresses issues like your return policy (how many days and under what conditions are returns accepted? how long will it take for returns to be processed?). Your shipping and handling rates/delivery methods/average processing time for orders (ex. we try to process orders in 1-2 business days), etc, Do you ship to APO/P.O Boxes? All of your contact info, your phone order hours, etc. Have you considered looking into an 1800 number? Not everyone has long distance service, nor want to use long distance service.
2) About Us Page: How did you come about? Why did you create your company? What is your mission?
- Forum posting
- Blog posting
- Link & Banner Exchange
- Social networks & Signatures
- Video posting (youtube.com, should be effective)
- Article writing
I believe most of all, the traffic comes from your investment, leave this on professional and dedicated hands.
