Choose a Life Coach that knows your objective. Sometimes a client has a vague notion of what they want to do with their lives but are not specific. A good Life Coach will seek the clients objective even when the client is uncertain of it themselves. So, you may get a client inform you that 'I want to leave my job and do something new but I don't know what'. A good Life Coach will establish where the client's skills, aspirations and dreams lie, as well as examine their: hobbies and interests...things people have always told them they'd be good at...tasks they've done well before but had never considered as a possible job role. From information gained, a good Coach will seek to help the client realise what he/she could do with their lives.
- A good Life Coach interacts - I once read a story about a client who visited two Life Coaches only to have her talk endlessly about her problem with no questions aksed, exercises or tools used. At the end of the session they demanded £50 from her. A good Life Coach will do more than listen. Listening is a tool used in conjuntion with tailored resources, action plans and exercises to obtain information and establish goals.
