Hello Sistas,
I have been a professional hairstylist for the last 8 years. I've always, for as long as i can remember wanted to own a salon of my own. I'm now at that point in my life where im ready to make that happen. My question to anyone who may have experience or some knowledge about this topic.... How do I start the process? Thanks in advance or all of your help!!!!

I am so excited for you that you want to take your profession to another level. Now first thing's first you definitely need a Business Plan. You need to put your idea on paper, not only that there are a lot of issues that are covered in the business plan that will give you insight on certain aspects of the business that you haven't thought of. If you cannot put it together by yourself you need to seek help from the people who can. Starting a business like any venture needs determination and a lot of hard work. Now put all the effort you can in the planning phase, once that's sorted then the the rest will be easier.
If you need help with putting it together, please contact me, i am able to assist.
First thing first is your business plan...Write out your business plan & it will be your guide to your next steps....Feel free to contact me if you have any questions...I just opened my first salon May 2010...This is definitely hard work so if this is what you really want roll up your sleeves & get to planning....
I posted this on Facebook but thought I would post it here are well. Congrats on your decision! This is a great book that shares advice on how to open a hair salon - http://www.FabJob.com/hairsalon.asp?affiliate=1520. Good luck!! :-)

Latannia, I'm not a salon owner, but I do a lot of researching/writing and came across salon-related websites/blog:

http://www.smallbizbooks.com/c/s/00095.html

These are general guidelines websites, so I hope the sites give you a starting point.
