About Me:
Cassandra Riddick Writer/Producer/Youth Advocate I was president of Popular Artists Entertainment before it merged with Kazoo Media, formerly known as Marketing Pros. I am an experienced concert, college and club promoter with more than ten years of promotions, event planning and artist management experience. I worked in the promotions field for the past ten years promoting and producing major concerts, recording artists, record labels and events. In this capacity, I was responsible for negotiating contracts with venues, artists and booking agencies. I set up in-store appearances, arranged radio interviews and organized the media planning and grassroots promotions for her clients. I helped revitalize the career of well-known DJ and recording artist, Biz Markie and promoted major recording artists such as the late Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, Common, Norega, Outkast, Luke, Nas, Akinyele, Monica and many others. I was also employed by local Washington DC go-go band, Rare Essence. Rare Essence sold over 100,000 units independently and charted on Billboard Magazine’s Top R&B 100. In 1999, I began working as the business and tour manager for major recording artist, Akinyele, aided in building his career via various media channels including setting up tour dates around the country, promotional activities for his new website and licensing deals. One of my most memorable jobs in the music industry was working for the late legendary Hip Hop DJ Jam Master Jay of the famed rap group Run DMC where multi-platinum recording artist 50 Cent first began his career. Prior to working as an independent promoter, I spent four years in the television field as a studio technician and master control operator at the C-Span cable network. Currently, I am pursuing my independent filmmaking career. I reside in Harlem U.S.A. In 2006, I was a Top Ten Finalist, for the RAP-IT-UP BET/Kaiser Permanente AIDS short film screenwriting competition. I hold a B.A. degree from Bowie State University and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Psychology at Walden University.
