About Me:
Crystyn Wright, the Editor, CEO and Co-founder of NeoBlack Cinema, is from the Bronx, New York, but has lived and traveled nationally and internationally. She is an educator, entrepreneur and journalist who has always been active in various genres of the arts, such as dance, music, writing and drama. The Florida A&M University graduate has a degree in journalism, and is currently working on her MBA in Media Management at Metropolitan College of New York and running her small business consulting company, Minnie Endeavors, LLC. As a Dow Jones Copy Editing Scholar, Crystyn worked as copy editor for the Macon Telegraph, the Tallahassee Democrat and the Detroit News and also freelanced for a number of publications, marketing projects and public relations campaigns in the political and entertainment realms. In addition to running NeoBlack Cinema, Crystyn is currently freelancing for the editorial department of American Legacy Magazine, and facilitating workshops in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, cultural enrichment and life and career skills for youth. Crystyn has been a teacher for the New York City Board of Education and a consultant for Money Savvy Kids. She has also taught African, ballet and modern dance to junior high school students in the Bronx for the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation and acted as coordinator for the national Children’s Defense Fund’s highly acclaimed Freedom School out of Mount Vernon, N.Y. and public relations coordinator of Habesha, Inc New York. Crystyn has freelanced for marketing and advertising for companies like The Alternative Board (TAB), which provides business coaching for CEOs, and Performance Research Inc., a national marketing company. NeoBlack Cinema is one of many projects on her list of things to do to empower her community and help promote positive images of people of color for the next generation.
