Day Spa ( Non Profit) For Survivors of Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Breast Cancer Patients
About Me:
The desire to own my own Day Spa was something I had played with off and on for years and I was praying for guidance on what to do with my life, I began to have visions of "hurting women" and how I could help them recover and still keep my dream , and with that “Sisters Pleasing The Almighty” (S.P.A) was born and now my vision is to work hand in hand with the Breast Cancer Centers, Residential Domestic/Sexual Violence Shelters and Residential Drug Treatment Facilities here in Central, Florida and be able to service at least one shelter per day contingent upon the amount of residents each shelter houses. The Day Spa will advance the women in my community by treating them “mind, body and spirit”, General spa treatments along with massage therapy, (which has been proven to aide in the healing process ) allows for a positive experience with their bodies in a healthy nurturing environment. Life Skills training, which will include: parenting, career enhancement, money management, nutrition and wellness classes, along with Faith based life coaching will offer education, spiritual enlightenment and clarity to assist the Women in Treatment Centers and the Survivors of Domestic/Sexual Violence on their journey to wholeness. For Breast Cancer patients massage therapy has been tested and proven reduce symptoms, improve coping and the quality of life. My purpose is to allow for the experience of a “Day Spa” on a different level catering to the “inner woman as well as the outer. As a survivor of Domestic/Sexual Violence along with being fully recovered from Drug/Alcohol Abuse I decided that I wanted to turn what I had experienced into a positive, my being a survivor has made me an advocate and now my mission is to help heal and empower as many women as I can. I recently received a scholarship to attend the Institute of Spa Management which will equip me with the skills needed to effectively own and operate the Day Spa, In addition I’ve been invited to join the Caucus of African American Women, a division of the National Coalition For Domestic Violence which will aide in networking my organization with several other agencies on a local and national level. God has given me all the necessary information and has placed divine connections in my path giving me the tools necessary to make this dream a complete reality, These women lives will be forever changed because my life changed, they can now be healed "mentally, physically and most important spiritually and be freed from the life of degradation, isolation, pain, fear and shame they once lived. I am being mentored by Monique McCleary of “Emerge for Women© a non profit organization who will be preparing the grant proposals for this project along with assistance filing my 501 c 3 application which make me officially a Non-Profit Organization. This project is in the inception stage but I have gotten excellent feedback thus far, I have registered with the State of Florida to begin doing business as “Sisters Pleasing the Almighty” Touching Lives inside & Out. And that is why I am reaching out now, early on, so I will know who is interested in being a part of this vision, there is so much more I would like to share with you, but I am going to wait to hear back from you to see what, if any feedback you may have for me.
