About Me:
Lesslie is a senior at The University of Memphis (Tennessee) double majoring in Technical Writing & African – American Studies, and minoring in Pre-Law. She currently serves in an Administrative capacity at AmeriGroup, Inc. – Memphis (formerly Memphis Managed Care Corporation). She began her journey there seven years ago as a Customer Service Temporary Representative, and within two years received three promotions to Senior Team Lead. She was the Senior Editor for the High School Headliner, the first publication in Memphis & the Mid-South that catered to high school students. She was a Junior Editor and contributor to Dark Eros: Black Erotic Writings –Reginald Martin, PhD (St. Martins Griffin, 1999) the sequel to Erotique’ Noire (Anchor Press, 1992) She has published with Grace Magazine, Party Source Magazine, Streetmasters, Inc., She also provided the Lead voice for the Books on Tape version of “Saiedahh” from the novella, Everybody Knows What Time It Is – Reginald Martin, PhD (Pyramid Valley Books, 2000) Lesslie is currently shopping agents and publishers for her books 99 Days of Rain (novella) and The Morning and The Noon and The Night (poetry). She is currently completing The Vacuum Chronicles, a first-hand presentation of abortion from men, women and children and a tentatively-titled chapbook called Ten Things I Learned From My Stalker. Lesslie was called to ministry in 2007 at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church. Believe it or not, Lesslie is single and “living her life like it’s golden!” (Jill Scott, 2007)and has a son, Exavier Lawrence Spikner, who, at 17, still shocks teachers into silence with his test scores, skills, savvy and easy living smile.
