About Me:
Maria Fernanda Nieto is a Colombian American producer and writer based in New York. A native of Queens, she has written for leading Latino publications and has authored a children’s book which she hopes to see published in the near future. In 2006 she and her husband and business partner, William Cutler, were the Executive Producers on the feature film “A Song and A Prayer” and its accompanying soundtrack of original Gospel music also titled “A Song and A Prayer: Music From and Inspired by the Film” both currently in post-production. This modern day tale of faith and redemption features the work of an extremely talented cast and crew and is the flagship for Wait A Minute Productions. The ethnically diverse talents on display both on and off screen are the very embodiments of Wait a Minute Production’s mission to bring the work of Latino and African American filmmakers to the silver screen. In 2004 she was the Executive Producer on the short film “Lousy in Love” which she also co-wrote. This highly regarded short film was an official selection of the 2005 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival and is currently airing nationally on SiTV’s “Not So Foreign Filmmaker’s Showcase.” Maria Fernanda’s screenplays include several feature film and short film length screenplays and she is currently writing her first adapted screenplay titled “Anna’s Two Wars” from the book “Anna’s Two Wars” by author Mimi Paris. In addition, she has conceived and written several television show treatments for Latino audiences including an animated children’s television show titled “Pepito and Pepita" and a home design show titled "Latin Quarters." Maria Fernanda is also the co-founder of Latinos in Entertainment.com, the online hub for the full spectrum of Latinos in the entertainment business. Maria Fernanda’s love of writing and filmmaking has found its perfect expression in her work as a producer and screenwriter and she looks forward to continued success in both of these fields. She is both honored and thrilled to be a part of the burgeoning Latino filmmaking community. As a Latina filmmaker, Maria Fernanda feels honored to carry the torch for Latino filmmakers of the past and she excitedly looks toward the day when she can greet the Latino filmmakers of the future.
