About Me:
Miriam "Mimi" Jacobs is an author, poet, and professional speaker. Prior to this, Mimi was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years where she served as a supervisor.
Miriam showed an early aptitude and love for creating, tinkering, and writing. She was first published while still in high school in the school's publication, "Jabberwocky". Today, Mimi is making a tumultuous presence both in print and online. But more importantly, her readers and fans love her, and her work. Much is to be appreciated; Jacobs is a master of several literacy genres and the author of seven books including, Illuminations: Poetic Inspiration, Embracing Candace, My Name is Not Monkey Girl, Chocolate Kisses, and 25 Ways to make $125.00 or More After Dinner. She is also penned How to Jump From a Ferris Wheel & Land on Your Feet, the first of a ten volume series. The book is a multi-author anthology with a theme of, "From tragedy, to triumph."
In March, 2007, Mimi launched her highly-acclaimed publishing company on a shoestring budget, and in a make-shift small office in her living room. The name was contrived as a tribute to her two granddaughters, Candace and Alyse. Her enthusiasm has helped her shape her branding and build a dynamic team around her including an editor, proofreader, illustrator, and full-time publicist. In just one month, Candalyse Publishing more than quintupled in size, and tripled its revenue.
Mimi is a life-time New Yorker and has the accent to prove it. She currently resides in the beautiful Catskills region with her husband, Charles, her granddaughter, Candace, and their pets.
ABOUT Candalyse Publishing
Candalyse Publishing is an exciting new venture intended primarily for first time authors and poets seeking to get their manuscripts printed in an affordable manner exuding both style and grace.
Candalyse Publishing Founder and CEO Miriam L. Jacobs' primary focus is to help her client's literary visions reach fruition. As a poet and author, Mrs. Jacobs has endured the frustrations, rejections, and obstacles that first time writers often encounter. It was through these same struggles that the impetus for publishing her own work was born.
After successfully publishing three of her books via a well-received website, Mrs. Jacobs visualized creating her own publishing company where, by self-publishing her and others' works, all involved could enjoy a greater sense of artistic freedom and fiscal success. Yet her greatest inspiration in building this company, and the one that continues to motivate her zeal to succeed, is to realize another dream as well - to raise the funds necessary for her young granddaughter's impending surgery.
It was through this combination of creative freedom, entrepreneurship, and altruism that Candalyse Publishing was born - the name itself a combined tribute to her two granddaughters, Candace and Alyse.
My Name is Not Monkey Girl was written to
promote tolerance and compassion
and to raise awareness for children born
with physical differences.
