About Me:
Mildred (Missie) Shealey, is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in the Metropolitan D.C. area. She currently resides in Atlanta Georgia and has been there for the last twelve years. She attended Paine College in Augusta, GA and is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Ms. Shealey has spent the last 23 years of her professional career as a topnotch Wardrobe Specialist for high end retailers such as St. John boutique, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Calvin Klein and Saks Fifth Avenue. She is also a contributing writer for the Onyx Woman Magazine, online. A major accomplishment for Ms. Shealey was having her children’s storybook published. It’s called “Pookie Lookie, the Pink Spotted Panda Bear”. It’s a wonderful story that teaches children about love, inclusion and self acceptance. Ms. Shealey has also created a Pookie Lookie mascot. The mascot encourages education and fun through “Pookie Lookie Pow Wow Parties’ held at schools, churches and birthday parties. Missie has been interviewed on tv and radio, and has had write ups in major publications such as Rolling Out Magazine and the AJC. She has also done book signings city wide, guest appearances at libraries and elementary schools and has visited local senior citizen high rises, with her mascot, spreading the love of Pookie Lookie. Ms.Shealey is currently in the develpomental stages of 'The Pookie Lookie and Friends' Industry and plans to have a series of Pookie Lookie books, product lines and new character books due out by the Fall of 2009. Missie’s most important job is as a mom, raising her beautiful daughter Janiyah Danielle. They currently reside in the Dunwoody area of Atlanta, GA.
