About Me:
Pamela Hooks, mother, speaker and media consultant. For over twenty years Pamela has enjoyed living through the power of the arts and media to educate, enlighten and improve the quality of life. Her professional credits as a producer include ABC News, Lifetime, and Discovery. She has won awards for editing and directing documentaries and public service announcements that focus on social justice issues concerning healthy living. In 2000 she collaborated with Pamela Johnson, a columnist for Essence magazine, to write and direct The Tenderheaded Diaries, a groundbreaking and wildly successful play that examines the social and cultural history of African American hair. Pamela is an artistic director for the Arts & Spirituality Center in Philadelphia, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to using the arts as a way of healing and creating community. With master percussionist, Doc Gibbs (Emeril Live Show) Pam has created Drums for Peace, a peace initiative that uses percussion as a tool to teach life skills and positive communication to youth. For women she has created a multi-media workshop, Rhythms& Restoration, designed to help the busy woman find the fun in living through rhythm and relaxation workshops. From living rooms to board rooms, R&R© has fostered community, teambuilding and self-nurturing to women who want “me-time”. She loves nurturing her three beautiful children Romare 16, Ade 18, and Ayoola 12; gardening in the spring; and dancing like nobody is watching.
