Collaboration: Process or Product?

Normally, we think of collaboration as a process or method of accomplishing a goal or objective. Team members collaborate or work together to meet a project deadline. Business partners share information to support each other's growth.

Now, let's consider collaboration as a product.

We start blogs because we feel we have something important to say. We want others to understand our point of view. Some of us write in hopes to attract as many visitors as possible for ad revenue. Some of us write just because we like to. It is our content that engages our blog visitors and keeps them coming back for more. Add interesting content to the ability to share one's own ideas and thoughts within a community of like-minded individuals and you have yourself a product. A product that has the potential to cause your profits to soar.

So, whether it's on Facebook, Ning, iGroops or some other social networking platform, develop and implement a strategy for creating your own collaboration product. You don't have to do all of the work yourself. Put your customers to work for you.
