More than one Business

Hi Ladies, I have several business that I operate at different times of the year. I am a writer that focused primarily on natural cures and remedies. I'm a crocheter who designs and makes hats and scarves AND I make shea body butters as well as creme for natural hair. My question is, how do I bring all of this together. I was thinking of creating a portal website that just had links to everything, but I wanted to hear from you ladies first. Thanks in advance Christine http://neosoulessentials.com http://raspberrycrochet.com http://homemade-remedies.net

  • I agree that the portal site is the way to go. You just need to come up with an all-encompassing name that will support all your brands or you could use your name for the portal.

Also, you can can use each of your websites to promote the others with banner add, blog posts, etc.
  • Hi everyone and thanks for the kind comments. I decided to go ahead and create portal website that has all the things that I do. It's a lot of work, but I've managed to get a few clients this way, so I"m going to keep going in this direction.

Thanks again for all the advice!

  • How are you Christine? Pray all is well, I am just now seeing this topic, truly this is me.

I can so relate to you on this topic. We have a lot in common, I am a writer first {We R Awesome!!!}, I create abstract art, and business mapping strategies that I am about to begin marketing as well as selling online.

We do a lot of things off line as well as online, I am presently in the process of creating a new brand that says all of this, so my seasonal work can sell when that season comes and thereafter, so be sure to stay tuned. I have the ability to help others build there brand, I will have a lot of FREE information on my site on this topic.

I think you have a great idea to create a portal site, but be sure to make it relatable and/or a custom theme, which displays who you are as a well rounded Entrepreneur with similar icons that show you as http://neosoulessential.com, http://rasberrycrochet.com, homemade-remedies.net experts.

Stay tuned for my main brand currently being built on the http://www.Dwritewell.com, my TeenPrenuer Virtual Magazine http://www.MotivatedBeautyMag.com, http://www.MotivatedBeautyBlog.com, http://www.IsotonicSupplements.com (all of which will be launched this month).

Let me know what you think about the powerful antioxidants, I am currently using. I will be signing up for your newsletters.

  • Hello everyone, I agree with Shellye; it's best to have one company and then build subsidiaries. It's good to have multiple streams of income.

  • Hello Business Owner:

You websites are great...You have already brought it together and just need to do more marketing.

Check out www.gmarketing.com with ideas on how to market if you don't have a lot of money. Get the book about marketing for small businesses but he has over 20 books on how to market yourself. Some of the books you need to read on marketing are located at www.angelspress.com/recommendedbooks.html.

I write articles, give seminars and workshops, have an internet radio show and weekly empowerment e-newsletter to stay in front of my customers faces.

My company also offer low-cost professionals marketing to a national and international audience at www.nationalblackagendaonline.com/Advertise.html. The $99 packet would be great to help you get your business out all over the country.

  • Feel free to give me a call. The African American Connection would be an excellent venue to help support your operations. It's a black shopping mall, a general shopping mall, a web portal and business development site, designed with the African American entrepreneur in mind. My company, Income Concepts, LLC is a small business consulting firm, specializing in working with African American businesspeople. We are affiliated with The African American Connection. I think it would be a great fit.

  • Hi Christine,

My fiance and I run more than 4 business and it can get out of hand if they are not properly managed.

2 businesses compliment each other so they are on one website and the other two don't so they have separate websites.

Seems like hats, scarves and shea butter compliment each other and it may not be a bad idea to create a bridge to bring them together :) or even putting them on one site. (Women love scarves and also use shea butter. so it can be an all in one shopping experience but it needs to cleverly done)

    All the best.

  • Hi Christine,

That is a question. I'm curious to know how this has works for others as well.
    • Business Owner:

It doesn't matter what type of services you offer...you can bring all of them together by swapping the different links on their sites and letting others know about the different services.

First of all what is the main way that you are advertising your business - internet, community, seminars, articles, sign on your car??? You should market different businesses with different ideas but link them together...Different businesses will have different customers and clients.
