I just wanted to respond to a few sisters who by the way are inspired by my business and want to know about the recruiting part of a home based business. Right now I am thinking most sisters here may want to know yet are afraid to ask about recruiting since there are a lot of home base business opportunities listed here. I can agree with you on being skeptical because you may have been burned before in a home base business I know I have been in the pass. However, I have learned from that experience and came out swinging. I knew for the next home based business that I responded to I would do several things. First, I would contact the BBB, do my research on the particular industry, its CEO, executives and the companies financial soundness. Of course, my gut instincts and my passions for becoming an independent consultant would take precedent over all. So, If you are a novice in starting a home base business, are an independent consultant for the myriad business opportunities here I congratulate you for having the wherewithal to go after your dreams. Suffice to say, it does not come easy. Nothing does!! However, you are on the right path to your financial success. Now, you have just signed up and hopefully, have chosen a company that aligns with your passion. You are ready to build your team and earn some additional income; this is not for the faint at heart. You are a strong individual to take this first step in wanting to work for yourself. Presently, in this economic uncertainty you have come to realize the importance of drawing your own stimulus plan and have a back up alongside of it just in case. . Now the dreaded part of a home based business or any business for that matter always comes from this word " Recruiting" . Personally, I do not believe in recruiting because it gives a negative connotation of being scammed, forced or trying to convince someone to join your business. The bottom line for all the sisters who are in business or those who are looking to get involved with me or another home based business opportunity "Only The Military Recruits" How do I solve that recruiting mindset? I simply replace recruiting with " sharing a gift with others" that is it. Very simple, right ladies! Remember it is not your business for them to say yes or no, you simply share your business with them and let them decide to accept or decline on the offer. Once you remove yourself from that self centered thought of the person will think I am being pushy or she will think I have something to sell, you will do much better. You will move from the no's to ye's and you will speak to more people. Remember, some will some won't but don't give up on your goals. The bottom line is don't ask individuals for their business unless they show you they are interested; let them come back to you. After all there are some people who you really do not want in your business anyway. For example, some people are not willing to be supervisors or managers at jobs because they do not have the leadership skill that comes with making decisions and moving from one place to another. These individuals prefer someone to tell them what to do and that's okay. Remember, they are not the people you are looking for if you want to build a team however they may still benefit from the use of your product or service. Most importantly, not everyone you encounter will join your business. Once you accept that fact it becomes easier to move from the no's to the yes's. Finally, most individuals were taught to get a job, stay put for 30 or so years and draw on social security. Moreover 80% of individuals will never get out of the box for fear of failing ( johnson & johnson, 2001). But, I know that your not one of them because you are still reading this journal. So, congratulations again, and go after your dreams, remove the naysayers out of your lives, and smile because now you know they are a part of that 80% statistics which after all is fine for them, but not for you! Still interested in starting your own home based business or becoming an independent consultant with a company? Go ahead and give it a shot as you have just learned the power of sharing your business with others. Interested in learning about my home based business " Compass" I have several upcoming workshops/events scheduled for the month of November. Good Luck and God Bless, -Marlene

  • Hello Marlene

Your post is right on. The only way to truly build a business is to be passionate about what you offer, build relationships and share. When you operate with integrity people appreciate being able to experience your sincerity and in turn, want to do business with you and even refer you to others!

    Thanks so much for sharing!

    • Hi Tamyka,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts its appreciated. You are absolutely right!! Its all about sincerity and integrity; losing sight of that will render your business at a loss and that is not what you worked hard to achieve.

      God Bless,
      -Marlene
  • Marlene, love the post! We have to get back to the basics of building relationships. People buy into people; there needs to be some trust factor and you have to believe in your business and what you do. Helping others can create many rewards, but when we lose sight of this, we complicate our lives.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Peace and Blessings,
    Sandy

    • Hi Sandy,

I can't thank you enough on words well spoken. Its absolutely sound and to the point. Helping others should be of the same magnitude in our business so we can prosper both financially and personally.

  • Thank you so much I like that idea of sharing a gift! That is what I am seeing as I grow my home business is that it is a gift to have the opportunity to have something that you can do that makes money and gives you freedom.

    • Hi Ms. Jones,

Glad you are excited about this opportunity. However, please share with my friends your thoughts on recruiting. Like any business, recruiting comes up a lot and this is why I chose to write about this topic. If your opportunity does not recruit what replaces that part of the business instead. Educating is key when it comes to successful network marketing. Thanks for the connection and much success to you!

    • Thanks Lady Charity,

I am happy we can connect and network together. Honestly, its all experimental. This way of thinking started to work for me when I removed all the non believers included in that ( 80% ) are friends and family out of the way and placed my belief in God! Prayers work wonders! Helping other business ladies and gentlemen thrive is all a part of it the process. Much love and abundance in your business.

      God Bless,

    • I agree with you Marlene. I do not recruit anyone, I let people come to me. I make myself visible, do events, give info for free and always make sure that my stuff is on point. People see that my creativity and work ethic shine through and they gravitate towards me. 9 times out of 10 they ask me what I do and I share, tell them about an opportunity leave it at that. I am never pushy and it works. I also give out free or low cost products so that they can see firsthand the kind of quality products that I sell.

      • Thanks Lady Bey,

Again, recruiting is so overrated. You are so right, people will gravitate towards you instantlly when you empower a sense of greatness. I believe this and truthfully, I walk tall and I am proud of the service I have to offer. If you sincerely believe in your product people will see it and want to learn more. Thanks for the awesome tips! Great prosperity to you and your business.

        God Bless!
