About Me:
Aamina Mahir, originally from Los Angeles, California, began her dance training at the School of Ballet with Mr. Allan Howard, premiere dancer of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. This training enabled her to join the Pacific Ballet Company in San Francisco. She later continued her ballet instruction at the Dance Theatre of Harlem and American Ballet Theatre in New York City. After expanding her studies to modern, jazz and African Dance, she performed these elements with many noteworthy companies. Beginning her ballroom dance instructions at KADTS Ballroom Dance Club with Mr. Tjames Scott, and having competed in pro/am competitions such as: Hotlanta, Atlanta Open, First Coast Classic Championship, Emerald Ball, California Star Ball, as well as performing in many studio show cases, Aamina now assists in teaching group and private lessons. She also continues her training at KADTS, Dance City Ballroom, and at Vivo Dance Center, located in California. Ms. Mahir is available to teach ballroom dance on Tuesday and Saturday during the day, and Monday through Thursday during evening hours. Class series runs monthly (4 to 5 weeks), and each class is 1½ hours for ages 16 and up. No partner is needed, singles are welcomed. For additional information, please contact Aamina by phone or e-mail. Dancing is a great activity for all because there is no stipulation on race, creed, religion, national origin, gender, or age.
