About Me:
Artist Statement: Peche B. is a Jamaican born artist turned native New Yorker, now an Eastonian. Her interest in art was peaked at a very early age. However, Peche embarked on a career in fashion design for over 10 years, after graduating from NYC’c Fashion Institute of Technology. She successfully created a line of original women & children’s clothing under the name INNOVATION FASHIONS, prior to embarking on her journey into art. Many of her paintings reflect her figurative fashion influence. Peche considers herself a multi-media artist and a Renaissance woman because of her ability to reinvent herself artistically. Peche creates bold, colorful paintings and quilts that depict and evoke the positive influences around her. Her vibrant and deliberate use of color is her trademark that she states: ‘Stems from my Jamaican heritage. Just as the island is awash with color, when I paint I feel the color vibes of the island.” With works depicting such icons as Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee, Billie Holliday, and other works that depict the experiences of the African Diaspora, her artwork also pays tribute to women who have survived abuse, breast cancer and other sad issues. Peche’s works are in the collections of NYC patrons, as well as local and international collectors. The primary media in her paintings are acrylic and watercolor, however, Peche integrates collage, textural and other media, including pen & ink, oils & varied media. Available as originals and limited-edition reproductions, and greeting cards each piece is hand-signed by the artist.
