Synthia SAINT JAMES World renowned visual artist Synthia SAINT JAMES is celebrating a career that spans four decades this year. She sold her first commissioned painting at the age of twenty in New York City. In 1989, SAINT JAMES received her first corporate commission from The House of Seagram. Since that time she has created original artworks for such corporations as Maybelline, Kayser-Roth, Coca Cola USA, Essence Communications, and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. The United States Postal Service, (she designed the first Kwanzaa stamp in 1996), the Girl Scouts USA, the American Library Association, Children’s Institute International, Center Disease Control, the United Way, and the National Education Association are also included in her incredible list of commissions. Her architectural designs include ceramic tile for the Ontario International Airport, and Cowan Elementary School, stained glass windows for the West Tampa Public Library, and elevator doors for the Capitol Area East End Complex in Sacramento, CA. Synthia SAINT JAMES’ art and celebrity have been utilized in promotional campaigns for such companies as Royal Caribbean International, Johnson & Johnson’s AMBI Skincare, Washington Mutual Bank, Barnes and Nobles and for Liberty Mutual Group. She is the author and/or illustrator of 22 books, and her art graces the covers of over 60 books, including books by best selling authors such as Alice Walker, Terry McMillan and Iyanla Vanzant. Synthia SAINT JAMES, a ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is also a popular keynote speaker and presenter.
