About Me:
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jayda was always intrigued with cooking. Reared by her elders, whom she loved hanging around, she watched and learned as they prepared New Orleans favorites. By the time Jayda was twelve, she was preparing dishes such as Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish Pasta, and Gumbo for all the family gatherings. She loved cooking so much she started a catering company. Cooking was not Jayda's only passion, she also enjoyed serving and helping those less fortunate than herself in her native New Orleans. She's famous for saying, "I can help someone who has problems bigger than mine!" In August 2005 as the entire city of New Orleans was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, Jayda found herself in a similar plight as many other residents who lost their homes and belongings. As a result, she migrated with her four children to Atlanta, Georgia. In the midst of the storm, Jayda remained prayerful and optimistic. Whereas most would have been deterred and discouraged, the devastation served as a catalyst for Jayda to continue her dreams and philanthropic efforts. In 2006 Jayda downsized Divva Dishes, a full service catering company, to a personal chef service. She also wanted to devote more time to her Homeless Outreach Suppers (HOS). HOS is a mission to feed homeless citizens "Hot Meals in their environment". Jayda founded Divva's Kids and Cybermentors, which provide mentorship to under privileged children. The organization encourages the children to become positive contributors to society by exposing them to the world of volunteerism, exercise, and arts. In 2007, Jayda's passion for cooking and her compassion for people catapulted her to create the Divva on a Mission reality cooking show. She hosts the weekly show which travels to communities to locate families who are willing to welcome her in their homes. The focus of the show is for her to showcase her signature cuisines and bring the family back to the table. She enables the family to continue this tradition, by supplying them with a new dinner table, décor, pots, pans, dinnerware, glasses and silverware. Jayda also is an active member of Dames Be'ni – Community Servants, an organization dedicated to serving their community, while uplifting each other through daily prayer, praising and thanking God through it all. The organization host monthly tasks to uplift others in their community. Involvements include, but not limited to feeding the homeless, serving the sick and shut-in, caring for the elders and supporting parents. June 2009, Jayda will pay homage to single supporters by presenting them with and S.O.S Award. S.O.S Awards (Single Outstanding Supporters) is an award ceremony she created to honor the outstanding contribution of individuals who have laid a foundation committed to supporting, nurturing, and inspiring as well as leaving a motivating impact on child's life. This premier event celebrating and honoring these individuals will be presented annually. Through it all, Jayda remains humble and understands that she is here for a purpose and to be a viable motivating force to others. Jayda hopes to create paramount connections with people all over the world.

As most of you all know I am very passionate about homelessness, hunger and poverty, and that I would walk to the ends of the earth to end these problems here in our country. So you should know how ecstatic I was to hear CoCo Brother & Joann Rosario of 97.5 challenging the city to donate blankets for the homeless!!
I know for a lot of people this mission may be somewhat impossible to participate in because of the drop off locations store hours.
Prayerfully this breakfast location will be beneficial for a lot of you.
Below you will find the information on the Stand Blanket Challenge. If you can't make it to the breakfast, I encourage you to please try and participate in this challenge and drop off a blanket at the nearest drop-off location...
Thanks and I hope to see you on Friday.....

A brother or sister in Christ might need clothes or food. If you say to that person "God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat," but you do not give what that person needs, your words are worth nothing. James 2: 15-16
