Don't Believe the Network Marketing Hype

10744076890?profile=originalIs there lots and lots of hype in every network marketing company? Of course, we've all witnessed it. The overly positive, extra excited big wig that tells that amazing story, of that super journey and gets the room going and next thing you know, people are signing up like crazy!

The business of network marketing is heavily driven by emotions and by dreams. You have a group of individuals that are desperately wanting to change their circumstance, make more money, have more time, be financially free and clear of the rat race and hence the emotional state of these individuals is at an all time high. The hype-guy or gal starts to speak about their success, that was an instant success and about the crazy commission checks, the residual income, passive income and the other income that was streaming in from every which way without them doing much of anything at all and what do you, that is all that it takes! Everyone in the room is excited. Everyone in the room is empowered. Everyone in the room is uplifted and ready and willing to try something new because it is going to set them free. Sold!

Everyone is, or at least the new distributors are officially high! It takes 1 to 4 days typically for the distributor to come down off of this high. Sometimes it takes a few hours. With the attractive compensation plans of today, sometimes it takes 1 month or 2. Suddenly, the reality kicks in. Nothing is happening. More money is suddenly being requested to attend trainings and for auto-ship, etc., etc. The new reality is suddenly that it is going to take more work than what was heard! You quickly resort to the Task List that they gave you, assuming they gave you one that tells you to:

  • Make a list of your friends and family
  • Book an in home opportunity meeting
  • Put your people on a conference call
  • Do a 3 way call with your up-line
  • Follow the plan, follow the system

You get no, after no, after no and maybe even a few hell no's! Your confidence is suddenly shot and the next thing you know you are convincing yourself that you've been scammed, that you should have known better than to get involved in one of those pyramid things! Suddenly your friends and family avoid you and won't take your calls anymore.

Maybe you decide that you are not a quitter and that you are going to prove everyone wrong. You believe that this industry and the business that you've chosen can work! Let me just say that you are absolutely, positively CORRECT! Network marketing and MLM can and does work. Does traditional network marketing models work? Yes, they do which is why you were given the above task list. But there is more available to aid your success and fast track your success. If you are like most people, you don't want to beg and plead for family and friends to join your business. You'd rather people track you down and beg and plead to join your business I'm sure.

A bit of advice I have for you is to do your homework on how to attract people to your business opportunity. The sooner you do this, the faster you'll be out of the rat race and on the road to true financial freedom. Don't believe the hype. Believe in yourself, your leadership and your SYSTEM (hopefully you have a proven one) and you will build a successful MLM business.

In order to get the most out of your Network Marketing business up front and avoid failure, I highly recommend you quickly develop the skill to attract people and lead people rather than chase people. TEAM UP WITH RIGHT PEOPLE and the RIGHT SYSTEMS! Realize that all products, systems and people were NOT CREATED equal!!! That's what I did and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  I learned how to use Network Marketing as a vehicle to MORE and PLENTY!  Do you need a new way?

  • As a brand new MLM marketer (Miche Bags) and a seasoned MLM person of Mary Kay and others at first I thought your post was a little negative but after thinking about it you are right and it is not for everybody. you really do have to just love doing it whether you get paid or not and you do have to have a thick skin.  It is possible to be successful though, I have seen too many people to it, but I have seen to many crash and burn as well..People should not let emotions rule an important decision but also not let not succeeding diminish their self esteem. Good post
