Being Overlooked

Have you been overlooked for a business deal, job promotion, etc. Well, welcome to the club of women in the business world. I have been coaching a few local women in business and they believe they will never reach success unless they leave Memphis. It's sad to say, They may be correct. It's very discouraging to hear women who do all the right things in their business dealings and come against every opposition possible.I often wonder what folks are thinking when they remain in their hometown to give back to the community, but treated with no respect, in regards to opportunities with their city, area of expertise, education, etc.It is a really true statement about, "It's not what you know, it's WHO you know"If you have gone through any of these things please blog with me. My mouth is large so I just call it what it is when I see it. I do pride myself in developing relationships not just business and being a resource to people.

  • Yes lady;

    It's unfortunately true, after you replay the tape in your mind of, was I early for the call or appointment, were you prepared, were you dressed professionally, did you have a great well planned presentation, was your car clean, nails, hair, your full demeanor, yea, after the self check, it's like, why not me, yessssss and In my own trade there very few minorities and although we've came along way we're still overlooked, I've been asked, you're a interior designer? they claim they NEVER seen a black designer, hmmm, but sally, suze doesnt have to do a presentation, she doesn't need a business license? why, hmmm, despite of what I personally think, we must know that we ALWAYS must be smarter, tht;s the bottom line, and yes I've had many crying mornings, trying to figure it out, but I can't.

    We must keep our focus on the prize, despite the obstacles, it's in our make-up. We have to do what we have to do, relocate, drive 1.5 hrs, network online nationally, attend networking events, but that's the journey of a millionaire, bottom line, It's apart of our testimony and we must Trust GOD !!!

    We gotta make it happen !!!

    NEVER LET UP!!
