Did you know the origins of SCD can be traced to countries where malaria was common. The gene is found in people of African, Arabian, Iranian, Italian, Indian, Turkish and Greek Ancestry. Approximately 1 in 400 African Americans is born with Sickle Cell Anemia. SCD affects many more American than inherited diseases such as Cstic Fibrosis and Hemophilia.
I made sure I bought alot of these sickle cell stamp and also purchased the picture of the stamp at the post office. I read alot about sickle cell as my husband have sickle cell anemia. Keep up the great work you are doing.
