Songwriting, soulful vocals and a knack for producing, Honey LaRochelle is the real deal and is most definitely SUPER DOPE! Born in Vancouver, Canada, Honey’s childhood consisted of countless band rehearsals, time in recording studios and touring across the states with her mother and professional singer, C.C. LaRochelle; who was one of the biggest influences in her life to her becoming the artist she is today. Being mentored by her mother, who sang with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Little Richard and Bon Jovi, one can only imagine how much Honey was prepared for what was to come in later years.In 2005, Honey relocated to Brooklyn, where she became one of the most sought after vocalists in town. Regularly performing with her 10-piece band at legendary music clubs such as Blue Note, Lenox Lounge, Canal Room, Village Underground as well as the smaller music venues like Ace of Clubs where SR’s Caprice had the pleasure of sharing the stage with. Members of her band include Ben Altman-Guitar; Jessie Singer-Bass; Greg Norwood-Drums; Winston Nelson & Sam Barsh-Keys; Nick Gianni-Baritone Saxophone; Freddy (Fuego) Gonzales-Trombone; Mario Maggio-Tenor Sax; and Damien Pacheco & Sam Roth-Trumpet and the lovely Amanda Brown, a noted vocalist in her own right, on background vocals.Honey’s view on music is that of a magical and spiritual journey through life. She believes that music should be powerful and her goal is to affect people through her art. With her bubbly personality, she carries a warm heart, a thoughtful mind, and a sense of humor that will have you laughing for days. She has 200 song recordings to her credit and lent her vocal skills to such reputable artists as Roberta Flack, The Brand New Heavies, Macy Gray, Maya Azucena and Donna Summer. In the past, Honey has been nominated for Best New Artist and Best R&B Artist at the Orlando Music Awards for her previous work with former group, “Urbanesque’s” debut album which she co-wrote with popular producer Veit Renn (“N’Synch, Backstreet Boys, Aaron Carter). Since then, Honey has worked with prestigious producers such as Michal Mangini (Joss Stone, Busta Rhymes, Donnie Osmand), Shaun Fisher (Mandy Moore, Steven Segal) and Heeba Jeeba Productions out of Atlanta whom with she recorded some of her early works.Honey is sought out by an abundance of reputable artists who ring praises for her talents. N’dea Davenport of The Brand New Heavies notes, “Honey is one of my favorite people to sing with.” According to Jennifer Hudson (American Idol; Dreamgirls), when discussing Honey’s songwriting, she exclaimed, “I’ve never seen anyone like her. She just asked me a few questions about myself and my life, and the next thing you know she had a verse and a hook written.”Honey’s performances are packed with energy and showmanship that keep the music listeners and the club management more than satisfied. She has toured internationally with the Brand New Heavies as their sole backup vocalist, as well as toured overseas with fellow artist Maya Azucena.In 2008, Honey will step into the spotlight with her first solo album, “Flight of the Honey B” that will showcase a funk soul mix of music with a little hip hop. The 12 track debut will feature a look into her life and her experiences as a woman and growth as an artist.
