I opened up a consignment/thrift shop in georgia, what I have witnessed is that the blacks here would rather patronize the other agencies, although my prices are cheap and outstanding customer service. I have researched all agency prices for the accuracy of pricing my clothing, furniture and appliances. The blacks walk into my store look around and rather than patronize they ask a million questions like is all this stuff yours? did it come from your house?wanting me to explain how I got started and always wanting a deal. I have the hardest time making profit or recieving donations from them. The blacks immediately want consignment no one ever just makes a donation to me. They are fast to make a donation to Salvation Army or Goodwill though. I am also the director of a youth team for the disadvantaged ages 13-19. I pay for everything out of my pocket besides the fundraisers we create. It amazes me to see how many people step on you b/c you are moving towards being successful. If anyone would like to send any donations please let me know, all support is needed, and greatly appreciated. In my youth program I cloth them and make sure they have proper bedding and furniture. I also create service hours for them through the community in doing community service. If you need proof of any of these services pleas let me know where to forward the info.
