I'm Official! Now what?

As I commented on fellow BBWO, Cee Cee's blog, I became "official" yesterday, meaning my business in incorporated. And the next step, with the help of a few professionals is to build corporate credit and use less of my own money to fund my business. I'm excited about it. I envision Noja, Inc. will one day become an umbrella corporation for my premarital counseling and marriage consulting business, my future books, lecture series, and hosts of other things I haven't thought of yet. However, there is also this feeling of it being more real than it was before. My business is REAL. I have a certificate of incorporation to prove it. It's no longer an abstract idea in my head. As a service business, it's really easy to keep it abstract. Who knew that this one document would change how I think about my business? But it has. My business is recognized by the State of New York as being an official corporation. The rubber has hit the road.So tell me, if you are "official", did it change how you thought of your business? Did it change how you conducted business (or is it just me)? If you aren't official, what are you waiting for?

  • This topic on being official is quite an interesting one. For those who have not done so yet, can you further explain why you decided to do so and why it is important to do so? If you have any online resources that you use in relation to this topic, please feel free to share them. - lhenry

  • And now I have a new business bank account too! It's time to use OPM (other people's money) to get some serious momentum going.
  • Congrats Natasha! Feels good to be official, doesn't it. Now you are in the public record for owning a business. For me it felt great that whipping all that stuff up in the kitchen was worth something. I could also apply for business credit and get some of the things I needed, but couldn't purchase right away because of tight cash flow.

I feel like "I'm a real business woman now.....so act like it"!!!

  • Im working on getting official. Im waiting to hear back from the State of Cali. I will probally have the same feeling as you...the "Oh Lord, am I really doing this. Am I really going into business and telling everyone else that Im in business?"

It was the same feeling that I had last week when I was looking at office space and Im telling strangers that Im a business woman...its a lil sureal but it felt good. I had taken the day off work and I was handling Lexus Events business...and I liked it.

Cant wait till my Emancipation Day! WOOOHOOO!
