Please let me preface this post with the fact that my business is only two years old. I've made a lot of mistakes, but in doing so have learned a lot about what to do, and most importantly, what NOT to do.What I'm about to tell you will take a lot of work time at the computer, but will pay off with a slow stead climb up the ranks of the Google search engine. Right now, my site www.neosoulessentials.com is number 12 on google for the search "natural shea butter products", number three for the search "shea products", and number 19 for "shea butter products", which means to me I've got to work more on my content to kick it up a bit. However, that is SEO rather that creating a buzz. :)Here are some tips that I used to generate traffic to my site with the use of free online tools:1. Create a blog about your business. You can create one for free at many of the online services. Be sure to create a RSS feed to your blog and post it at blogging sites such as blogher.com.2. Write an article about your business and/or services and submit it online article services, such as Article City, isnare.com, Go Articles and Search Warp.3. Talk about your business on the entrepreneur section of other board and/or put the link to your business in your signature of these bulletin boards. (Please check the terms of use for the particular board to ensure you can advertise in your siggy.)4. Submit press releases to sites such as prwire.com and prweb.com. Run a search for "free press release sites" to find more.I hope this helps you begin to get some free publicity for your biz!
Thanks for the tips CeeCee. I'm new to blogging so I may sound very naive when I ask questions that I probably should already know the anser to...but here it goes: How do you create an RSS feed so you can post to blogging sites like you suggested?
Always a pleasure reading your posts CeeCee. Full with insight and helpful tips. I recommend to both you and your readers to also do the following:
Create an account on stumbleupon.com - it's a site on which people review and recommend webpages. By either reviewing your own site or those of others, you increase your web visibility with others - my stumble page is mahogany momma!
Also join blogcatalog if you have a blog to connect with other bloggers and gain exposure.
Signing up for feedburner is also a great idea, you can allow your readers to subscribe to your blog and track how many readers you actually have...
