My family and I set up display booths at different events throughout the year. To keep things interesting I look forward to counting how many times a customer approaches my booth, looks at the display of writing journals and says, "Oh, what's this book about?" Usually, before I can say a word they have already picked up and opened the journal only to discover one small sentence at the top of each page followed by a full page of lines. Because of their eye-catching covers, our line of African American writing journals usually turns the avid reader's smile into a look of confusion. Or I get the "oh, it's one of those things you write in." phrase. And that's ok, these writing journals are so beautiful.

Each journal's soft-padded (yes padded) cover features alluring artwork by artist Aaron and Alan Hicks, and Dorothy Allen. Some journal covers are sprinkled with inspirational messages and scriptures. Although the journals are not full of words, they do contain a small Bible verse and that's more than enough reading for those who love to write. Not only do they look fabulous, but the spiral spine allows the journal to open flat so the writer can comfortably write without having to break in the spine or eventually loose pages.

The "Sunday Morning" and "Virtuous Woman" journals are a favorite for Sunday worship or Wednesday night Bible study notes. I remember going to Wednesday night Bible study with a plain ol' yellow notepad. Later I would be disappointed when my husband or daughters would grab a sheet to use as scratch paper. But with my "upgrade", I dare them to take a sheet.

What I like most-- once I've completely filled one journal I can place it on the bookshelf and get another one... same size, different design. And I might add, they look quite lovely lined neatly on my bookshelf.
