Give value first- Be a resource to someone you meet. You have knowledge and information- Share before you ask.
Make your introduction, then introduce that person to someone else. They will remember that you listened to them and we're willing to be a connector to someone else.
When you meet someone- ask them what they have up and coming. Then remember to ask about that the next time you talk or meet.
Make sure what you share is interesting- Be the person that someone would want to seek out and connect with.
Be the one who offers relevant solutions, opinions or be the expert. Help each other solve problems. Be memorable.
Be prepared for networking meetings. Determine what you want to accomplish at each event. If you know the participant list in advance- seek out those you want to connect with. If applicable, know who the speaker is so you can ask relevant questions.
Make sure you send notes to those you connect with at an event or meeting. Paraphrase your discussion and make the effort to reconnect.
A quote from one of the speakers- "Networking is not about thenumber of contacts in your database, its about the quality of yourrelationships".
