Running Your Business Solo!

Women About Biz had a great teleclass session on "Running Your Business Solo"!  Below are just a few notes from the teleclass that can help the businesswoman who is playing multiple roles in her business:

Things to remember when Running Your Business Solo:

  • You'll have to sacrifice many things that you feel are priority in order to make room for the many tasks of your business.

  • Structure and focus are key in managing your business daily.  Without a plan or system to properly map out how your business will flow, you'll always find yourself trying to catch up.

  • It's important to set your business goals and develop your strategy on an annual basis.  This way you can break down the action tasks needed to implement your strategy quarterly.

  • While there are many systems and techniques in planning out your business day, a good time management planner is all you really need.
  • Make sure you posts your tasks/to-do items  in a time slot and always schedule "travel time" and  "prep time" before and/or after your appointments.  In addition, set aside at least 2 hours daily for making your prospect or power calls.
  • Remember, a successful business brings in new business frequently and that is done by making new connections and building a list of customers and prospects that you'll stay in contact with at least every 14 to 21 days.

  • Reward yourself at least weekly with whatever it is that you want to do.  A massage or special lunch treat etc.

  • Remember that running your business solo doesn't mean that you're alone!  Learn to leverage the power and talent of others on your business journey.

  • Use the assistance of a Virtual Assistant whenever possible.  This will allow you to focus on other areas that need your attention.
